#1zombiegleemaxOct 20, 2006 7:44:29 | Hi there fellow gamers! If someone can help me with this, I would be very happy. I am doing my own character sheet for Dark Sun. But I am only a player and am not entirely sure about different coins in Athas and what they are worth. My Dungeon Master is in Spain for a vacation and I live in Sweden. Problem is I am very much into doing my sheet n o w and not in a week when my DM comes home ;) So can you help me with a list of dark sun coins please? I know there are shards, gold, silver, bits. But what more? And how many bits makes a gold, for example? Thanks in advance |
#2redkank_dupOct 20, 2006 8:01:07 | 1 gold piece (gp) = 10 silver pieces 1 silver piece (sp) = 10 ceramic pieces 1 ceramic piece (cp) = 10 ceramic bits 1 ceramic bit (bt) = 10 lead beads (bd) The base coin is the ceramic piece, which replaces the gp. So cp, bt and bd replace gold, silver and copper from other settings (although metal items cost 10 to 100 times more on Athas). Actual gold and silver coins are extremely rare on Athas. There is more detail on this in the Dark Sun Core Rules download over at Burnt World of Athas (www.athas.org) or in the 2e boxed sets. |

#5zombiegleemaxOct 20, 2006 17:52:05 | Hmm... I do have one more question after all. When I look at a Dark Sun character sheet I found on the internet I see two interesting things in the "coin box". There is something (coins I guess) called Tesselle and Cerame. What is that?? Other names for bits and ceramic or what? |

I guess that the sheet was originally put together by a francophone. |
#7methvezemOct 20, 2006 19:23:08 | Sorry, but it isn't french. I'm francophone and I can tell you that cerame and tesselle aren't french.;) Perhaps the character sheet come from the DS Brazil community. These words certainly sounds portuguese to me, another latin language, but I can't be 100% sure. |
#8PennarinOct 20, 2006 19:42:01 | Weren't cerame and tesselle words found in the french-translation first boxed set? Not saying those are actual dictionnary words...just I seem to recall reading them. |

#10manyfistOct 20, 2006 20:18:17 | I have a question. How much coins to give a lvl 5 character? Do I use the DMG list just convert the G to Athasian coins? I thought it was a bit too much, so I halfed it. What did everyone else do? |
#11jon_oracle_of_athasOct 21, 2006 6:18:39 | I start PCs off with a non-metal weapon the character can use, a light armor if the character has Armor proficiency, a 1-gallon waterskin and 1d4 Cp and clothes on the character´s back. If they are lucky! |
#12pringlesOct 21, 2006 16:11:13 | Tesseles and Cérames are the french translation for bits and ceramic in the first box set. I know it, I have the box. Tesseles doenst mean anything in french while Cérames is related with the word Céramique, the french for Ceramic. |
