#2redkank_dupOct 20, 2006 18:32:24 | What about an understandable post? |
#3woobyluvOct 20, 2006 18:41:33 | Is there a point you were trying to make? I can't flame you properly if I don't have any ammunition to throw at you. |
#4PennarinOct 20, 2006 19:17:06 | ...how do they interact? A valid question. Anyone? For my bit I can say to look in chapter 2 of Terrors of the Dead Lands, which holds some details on the PHB spells' interactions with the Gray and Black. Also...quit monkeying, guys ;) |
#5kalthandrixOct 20, 2006 20:14:02 | How about you do some work, like reading the material that is already out there, then come back and give us a real question and mybe, just maybe, put some additional thought behind it seeing as your first post seems to be lacking. Look no further - I have the fule for the flaming to come! Anyone else bring a match? |
#6zombiegleemaxOct 21, 2006 4:00:03 | Sorry, my post was erased. Shadow magic of Tome of Magic and the Black, I mean. |
#7jon_oracle_of_athasOct 21, 2006 6:14:59 | Could you elaborate a bit? |
#8dracochapelOct 21, 2006 8:05:49 | Do not feed the Troll |
#9rjtrotterOct 21, 2006 9:00:23 | Could you elaborate a bit? I think he is asking if you can use the Tome of Magic version of shadow magic and the Black on Athas???? At least that is what I'm thinking he wanted to ask.... |
#10zombiegleemaxOct 21, 2006 12:46:51 | Yes, this is my question. I've been reading Tome of Magic and i like shadow magic. Do you think is a good idea using this kind of magic as a magic of the Black? Using shadowcaster as a shadow mage. Sorry, i'm not english speaker and maybe i write a little bad. |
#11OninotakiOct 25, 2006 11:31:31 | I most certainly do think it is a good idea, matter of fact its what I plan on doing:D |
#12ZardnaarNov 07, 2006 3:44:40 | I've often thought about using the Shadow Adept (From FR)PrC in Athas to represent a secretive cabal of wizards. Replace Shar with Rajaat. Me no know not to bright. |
#13Jesse_HeinigNov 13, 2006 1:12:56 | The Dark Sun game that I play in at home has a player using a shadowcaster from Tome of Magic, specifically as a channeler of the Black. It doesn't seem overwhelming or anything - any templar who caught him would just consider him an unsanctioned user of magic like any other caster and have him executed or thrown to the slave pits. If anything, the weirdness of people not understanding his Mysteries just makes him even more of an outsider, which fits the Dark Sun vibe fine. EDIT: Although thematically it doesn't raise the issue of the temptation of defiling, which some might say is sort of "cheating around" the way that magic is supposed to work in the setting. |
