#1kalthandrixNov 10, 2006 12:03:53 | Happy Birthday! Today all US Marines (which I am) celebrate 231 years of history and brotherhood. Semper Fi! On a DS related note, so that no one can say that I am using these boards for non-DS related material - I think I will make a heavy armor/infantry combat specialist PrC to celebrate my birthday! |
#2dirk00001Nov 10, 2006 12:14:27 | ...with Swim as a class skill? |
#3cnahumckNov 10, 2006 12:37:56 | Happy Birthday Kal, well, not to you. but to your corp. |
#4woobyluvNov 10, 2006 12:47:38 | Didn't know you were a fellow Marine Kal!! Semper Fidelis! Coincidentally, it is also my B-Day :/ |
#5cnahumckNov 10, 2006 13:00:49 | birthday wishes all around then!!! |
#6thebraxNov 10, 2006 13:16:56 | On a DS related note, so that no one can say that I am using these boards for non-DS related material - I think I will make a heavy armor/infantry combat specialist PrC to celebrate my birthday! What a coincidence! I was just thinking last night about asking you to develop a PrC for Kurn's elite Black Brethren. Here's a sample 4th level character in that unit. Black Infantry Male human fighter 2/psychic warrior 2 LN Medium humanoid Feats: Companion, Concentrated Fire, Rotate Lines, Shield Wall, Spear Wall, Teamwork Languages: Kurnan, Baazrag, Literacy (Picts), Powers: Cast Missiles, Biofeedback Possessions: full plate (bullette shell) +1, spiked heavy shield +1, Light crossbow Quick explanation: they use cast missiles to throw crossbow-bolts one-handed while holding a shield. They often work with the miltia (Kurnan citizens trained for defense, usually Expert 2/Warrior 1) to form defense lines against the yearly trin raids and other threats. They speak baazrag because Kurn's the only city that recognizes baazag as sentient and the baazrag contingent of Kurn's militia is very valuable. The more powerful ones might be assigned patrols up in the White Mountains. Gruff, buff, and tough, these guys specialize in heavy armor and combat teamwork. Any ideas? |
#7kalthandrixNov 10, 2006 13:22:44 | I will look into doing something when I have some free time again (meaning that I have like 21 pages of text to review, 3 NPCs, and 2 artifacts to write first for the FFN and TPs stuff) - I have some ideas, but I will need some time to dig through my secret box of ideas to get some good stuff. |
#8thebraxNov 10, 2006 14:24:15 | You're right; compared to the other stuff, this PrC is low priority and not urgent; don't absolutely need them until we do CSoK. It's an interesting feat chain, though isn't it? All the colaborative fighting stuff. Where do you go from there? Little ideas: where if you're adjacent to an ally with the companion feat, then you and that ally cannot be flanked. Curious if you can think of any feats that simulate tactics that you learned in the Marines. |
#9kalthandrixNov 10, 2006 14:50:53 | Curious if you can think of any feats that simulate tactics that you learned in the Marines. Actually - yes! I have already began to kind of sketch out some ideas for some feats that would work and kind of simulate some manuvers. |
#10elonarcNov 10, 2006 22:46:17 | Congratulations to your birthday! :D You are no special being because of your military background!:P |
#11kalthandrixNov 10, 2006 23:10:34 | Anyone who volunteers to join the service is something special IMO. |
#12thebraxNov 10, 2006 23:17:18 | I volunteered after 9/11 and they told me I was 10 days too old. That didn't make me feel too special |
#13cnahumckNov 10, 2006 23:53:34 | What a coincidence! I was just thinking last night about asking you to develop a PrC for Kurn's elite Black Brethren. Here's a sample 4th level character in that unit. I have actually been finalizing these guys, but if a PrC is in the works, I could hold off. cc me into conversations, yeah? |
#14thebraxNov 11, 2006 0:16:42 | Don't worry, C. Those ones are 4th level and won't be affected by the PrC. Finish up the ones you've worked on; we'll just add some PrC'd versions when we do CSoK. Thanks! |
#15cnahumckNov 11, 2006 1:03:09 | that was my thinking, too. |
