#1phantasm72Nov 13, 2006 0:33:58 | The year 5 Living Greyhawk module retirement date is just around the corner... Im sure over the years players have come and gone. Just wondering how many people out there have been there since the begining. Anyone manage to accumulate all the adventures for their region from year 1 through 5? I have all the bandit kingdom and iuz adventures, but from people ive talked to, thats a rare feat. Anyone else come close? Or manage to have collections in regions they dont even play in? Its common to see posts about people wanting old material. Just curious if there are many people out there that managed to collect a fair number... |

#3theocratissakNov 20, 2006 18:48:36 | hi all - I've managed to finagle many many many LG modules over the years. It seems to me, as a collector, that many of the other collectors have gotten out of the practice. Not for some anti-piracy thing, because it's more about having access to other things and ideas that take place in GH. I've got some 500+ LG modules (I really have no idea if it's 500 or 1500), and I've read exactly 2 of them. I ran them both for tournaments in Vegas, BABY! in 2002 (iirc). They were both year 1 Theocracy of the Pale modules and it was at the height of my disgust for the "Hug Your Heathen" (tm) that I felt the masters of the region were going for. Once M:tG told me that it was better to have the love and ansgt of ones peers and to quit arguing with the triad and do stuff for the OJ that I bacially fell out of the RPGA as a whole. Now I use my collection as a bais for trade. You have many modules from a region, I've got tons, maybe even all that you have, but there is a possiblity that you have even one that I do not. Thus I'm willing to trade. Someday, I'll be retired. Someday I'll play all the video games I have, all the modules I've bought read and know the rules to all the books I have. Right now, my hope is to have the material so that......IF...I decide to play in that region, I know where to look to find the information. Well, I hope that others point you in the right direction. |
#4pauln6Nov 21, 2006 4:07:15 | Yeah - It would be impossible to play all the LG mods unless you dedicated your whole life to it. I just want to use the information in my home-made gazeteer and to use the regional plots as background to give my players an idea that international events rumble on around them even if they're not involved. The difficulty is that the outcomes of retired regional plots are not well documented and nobody seems to be keeping notes of say, the name of the innkeeper in module X. Having said that, my Keoland gazeteer is about 200 pages so far, so maybe keeping track of the minutia isn't such a good idea... Oh well. |
