#1zombiegleemaxNov 13, 2006 17:49:40 | hello everyone! so has anyone ever played a character that was born and raised in the City of Doors? what is life like for a child in the city? is there a large population of orphans - and thus orphanages? what about general knowledge and information? i would imagine someone native to the City may have the skinny on several portals, secret locations, chant on the streets, and basic history both recent past and current events. how many in Sigil are natives and how many are transplants as far as population is concerned? would a lot of people pack up and move elsewhere when it came to having a family ("the City is no place to raise children")? would a child of Sigil become part of a faction (pre-"Faction War") more quickly than a transplant? myself and several other players want are co-creating our character histories so-to-speak and weaving them together - childhood friends, growing up on the streets of the City, that sort of thing - and we all have been pondering "a day in the life" of a native Sigilian - as a child, a teen, a young adult, and a budding adventurer. so i thought i'd jump in and see if anyone else has created characters native to the city; and get some input/thoughts/ideas to some fun stuff we can weave into our collective histories that will be juicy stuff our DM can use for future hooks, starting points, etc. thanks! |

Based on your questions, you probably want to know more about Hivers and people from the Lower Ward. Generally you can pick out natives from these two wards because they will dress inobstrusively and wear footware suited for stepping in puddles of questionable composition. They will also never look up and marvel at the disconcerting shape of the city, nor in fact will they be surprised by anything at all. The cager largely been there and done that, or at the very least they think they have. You know how people say "if you can make it in New York, you can make it anywhere?" Sigilians have that attitude times fifty. Sigilians have a breadth of experience unmatched by the residents of any other city in the multiverse, and it tends to make them a bit full of themselves. I strongly suggest that you read This, it's a Day in the Life of Pekan Shu, from Brix's Guide to Sigil. The whole guide is useful, but that bit in particular should answer many fo your questions. A Day in the Life of Jaimi Bimkz would also be useful. |

Raz is about to ascend to D&D Boards godhood for his sheer awesomeness. I'm sure Rickiel would be glad to give tips. Or you could read his work The Maiden's Wind in the Once Upon a Time section. Here's what I know: - the sky is something new to you - believe very strongly in the power of positive thought (both courtesy of Raz) - you may have an issue with locked doors |
