#1zombiegleemaxNov 26, 2006 8:32:31 | Can anyone find any official information on this demon (and it's aspect) other than it's stats from the tactical encounter? The only other reference I could find was from Wikepedia and Disney of all places. Below is the wikepedia link, at the bottom of their page is a link to an image gallery. Again, this is only a substitute I'd rather get something official from WOTC so I can be consistant. -Steve |
#2zombiegleemaxNov 26, 2006 22:54:04 | The lack of stats [EDIT: I meant 'details']for this Aspect was discussed on the Expedition to Castle Ravenloft Errata Page here: http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?p=10732350 Alas, no stats [again,'details'] to be had yet. Perhaps the authors would post their deleted material? |

#4humanbingNov 30, 2006 18:23:57 | There was an old computer game called Blood which featured you as a gunman circa 1890, and you were part of a cabal in service of the demon god Tchernobog. Tchernobog was known as "The One That Binds" and its purpose was to hold the dimensions together, so that nightmare dimensions did not impinge on this one. For some reason, the One That Binds arose and destroyed his four human lieutenants. Of them, your character, Caleb, arose from the grave in a half decayed body and began a vendetta against the cabal. Tchernobog's reasons for killing the four are never truly made clear, but it is surmised that he knew one would arise and kill all the other human cabalists, allowing the god to absorb all their essences simply by killing him. Of course, Caleb has second thoughts about that plan... In that game, Tchernobog's manifestation was a humanoid skeleton fully three times the height of a human. It had a blue flame burning in its chest cavity, and its head was a mix of an oxen skull and a predator's jaws and teeth. Tchernobog could cause any given enemy in its line of sight to spontaneously combust, and it could draw blue coldfire from its chest to fire at its opponents. If Tchernobog gets close enough, it can trample you to death more or less instantaneously beneath its great weight. I was very entertained to see the One That Binds make a reappearance in EtCR. |

As mr_praxis said, a demon of the same name appeared in the Night on Bald Mountain section of Disney's Fantasia. And while various entities with similar names have appeared in various video games, I doubt that's where the authors got their inspiration. Czernobog also appears in Neil Gaiman's novel American Gods, where he is the dark half of the sun god Bielebog or Dahzbog (which is one of the theories about Chernovog). But appearance-wise, there's nothing definite. You can either go with the Disney-look (very demonic), wait for the authors to give us a description, or make something up. |
