Ok here's the Question. I have been a DM for Many years now and I'm a firm believer in role play. thing is i cant find a raw price for Bulk adamantine. say i wanted to purchase 100 pounds of unsmelted adamantine vein straight from a dwarven supplier. i dont think it should cost me more than the finished product or even just as much as the product because that would defeat the process of capitalism. does anyone have a price for raw adamantine? what book would i find that in, and what page so i might earmark it for future reference?

Well, when crafting adamantite goods, you'd use the Craft skill, which, if all goes well with passing your skill checks, cost 1/3 the price of the item in raw materials. While weapons and armor would both need extra non-adamantite materials, (leather, steel, coal, etc.) I think it's safe to assume the bulk of the cost is the ore itself. So enough ore to make a breastplate would be 1/3 the cost of an adamantite brestplate. Then to convert to lbs, you just have to figure out how much an adamantite breastplate weighs. The regular breastplate weight is 30lbs. I'd assume adamantine weighs a bit more, but can't find any reference in the rules. I'd say estimate 50% more? then do the math and you've got the cost of raw adamantite in gp.

But what does this have to do with ravenloft? ;)

Adamantine would weight the same as steel. No weight adjustment is given so it weighs the same.

Okay, let's do some number comparisons.
Shields weight 5-15lbs (roughly) but cost roughly the same for what would be varying amounts of adamantine (2000gp). That puts worked adamantine at 400-130gp per pound.
Arrows at 3lbs/20 weigh about .15lbs so there's just over 6 1/2 per pound which puts adamantine at 400gp/pound.
The 'average' weapon is the longsword which is 4lbs and costs 3000 for a cost of 750gp/pound.
Armor seems to average from 25lbs light (200/lbs), 33-ish for medium (300/lbs) and 45 heavy (334pg/lbs).

Taking all the prices the average cost seems to be a little under 400gp/pound for post-craft weight.
The raw materials of straight processed ore would likely range from 100-140gp/lbs.
