Mystara Game and Dinner at Gen Con 2007

Dec 06, 2006 14:18:41 Asking Bruce whether he'd make it to Winter Dark or not got me to thinking about Gen Con Indy, which will be held in 2007 August 16-19. We've always talked about getting a Mystara group "thing" going at Gen Con, but things just ahven't worked out much...

Let's make it work this year. I know I'll be at Gen Con this year, and, given enough warning, can set aside enough time for a game (set in Mystara, of course) and perhaps dinner one night during the show.

At this point, the schedule is empty, but that state doesn't last long, especially after the GAMA Trade Show in April.

So, everyone who plans on being at Gen Con this year, shout out, and we'll set a definitive time and place for a Mystara game (one standard Gen Con session, four hours) and then dinner (maybe at the Ram; though it's always crowded, it is because it is very gamer friendly).

too bad GenCon has been moved this late into August. The school semester is starting just around that time here in Norway and being a teacher I should probably be preparing for work. If not, I would seriously contemplate on going. I remember my last time at GenCon being great, and getting the chance to meet you guys would be awesome.

Dec 07, 2006 19:55:22 I've never been 'in' on the gaming community in general (what can I say, I lived a very sheltered and isolated game-life), so where exactly is Gen Con held? My only guess would be Indianapolis Indiana, due to the 'indy' part.

If that's the case, it's only about 500 kms from me; plausable...

As for the game system, well, that'd probably be up to a vote of the group that would get together, but myself, I'd prefer Rules Cyclopedia D&D; that or B/X D&D.

Mar 13, 2007 9:00:25 I'm going to be at Gen Con this year visiting some fellow writers, and kicking ass at the Iron DM event. I'd love to sit in or even run something time permitting. Name a game system. It doesn't even need to be TSR/WotC and I'll set it in Mystara - and don't think Fading Suns, DC Heroes or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles RPG is off the table either.

We're having a meeting at work Monday to determine what's up with Gen Con; that will in turn determine how much free time I am going to have. I'll know more next week...

Mar 19, 2007 17:02:30 If income permitting I would love to go. Never been to Indy, but it's just a short flight from here. Be cool to put some faces to the names. I wouldn't mind RC D&D. I still have my copy of the RC.

The key would be whether I could afford the flight. So jot me down as a maybe, and I'll let you know for sure once I know what my financial situation will be in August.
