#1hayabusaDec 13, 2006 20:14:14 | I've been thinking about whipping up a Dragonlance campaign for a little while now and I already have most of the basic starting concepts worked out. I know when I'm starting in Krynn (345 A.C.) and I know the basic plotline of the first few levels. The only problem I have is where to start... I've looked through the Campaign Setting book and the WotL Sourcebook at the various regions of Krynn, but I can't--for the moment--find a suitable place for a group of 1st level characters to start their adventuring careers. There needs to be a relatively big town so they can be hired to take out a small warband of goblins and hobgoblins. The characters need to be good-aligned as well. Can anyone here help me in figuring out where to best start my campaign? |

Now of course you are starting your campaign just before the War of the Lance when evil is starting to gather its forces and form armies. Draconians have been created and they are being sent out to establish allies. Now the goblins in Lemish and Taman Busuk will probably be acting as goblins do and doing simple raids and stuff. However the Goblin and Hobgoblin tribes in Throtl are eventually going to conduct a siege on the city of Throtl (the capital). Of course along the way they would be attacking villages and others. You also have the Riders of the Moor (defenders of Throtl) who are trying to buy time for the citizens of Throtl to flee to Solamnia. |

#7falconerDec 15, 2006 3:57:56 | I've often thought of adapting the great old introductory module, The Keep on the Borderlands, tying it in with Brothers in Arms. The Keep-->Langtree The Chapel-->a chapel of Kiri-Jolith The Castellan-->the Mad Baron The Borderlands-->Blöde etc. I would half adapt the information from the novel to fit the module, and half adapt the module to fit the novel. I would change one of the orc tribes from the module into a second goblin tribe, and the other orc cave I would convert into a gully dwarf den. There are several possibilities for the temple at the end. It could be the Belzor cult, or just a vague cult foreshadowing the return of Takhisis and her dragons. Anyway, it's an idea. Regards. |

Thanks for the help, Throtl looks to be an excellent place to start. With Nightlund in the immediate vicinity, I can also sic some undead onto the group. Falconer: I, unfortunately, have neither module... Sounds good, though. |
