Starting a compaign before cataclysm

Jan 14, 2007 0:59:28 Have any of you played dragonlance in this age?

Me and a group of friends have been playing ad&d for a while, and love 2e. Recently we decided to try dragonlance, since only one of us has ever read anything about dragonlance(he has a lot of novels, and remembers a lot of things from them). That person is the DM and he decided to set us 9 months before the cataclysm because, in his words, most people know about the calaclysm, but not exactly how it happened. So he thought it would be fun to play through it.

So I am just wondering if anyone here has done this.

P.S. We are about a month from cataclysm and it has been a very fun compaign so far. We have lvl 6 elf thief, lvl 5 half-elf fighter, lvl 5 elf mage, lvl 5/5 human commoner/heretic priest (don't ask) and a lvl 3 or 4 elf fighter that rarely plays.

Jan 21, 2007 10:34:50 You should definitely pick up the Legends of the Twins sourcebook. It deals with pre-Cataclysm campaigns.

Jan 21, 2007 13:41:59 You can also play a campaign where the Cataclysm does not happen and the Kingpriest ascends to divinity.

Jan 22, 2007 20:38:17 Well, cataclysm happened and the wizard and commoner/heretic priest died, the thief and lvl 5 warrior lived and the lvl 3 warrior wasn't on adventure so he lived as well. We were teleported to 20ac.

Jan 22, 2007 23:32:34 The wizard was a dumnass and the adventure before the cataclysm he ripped a leaf off a tree from the island of the gods and after it infused with his arm, we cut his arm off. It hit the ground and sank in, turned into an avatar of something and started chasing us. We ran away.

A couple weeks later at the cataclysm, the avatar grew in power and turned into a whale-like creature that can use the ground as its "water". He was swallowed whole. The commoner/heretic priest jumped off into the abyss and died.
