What is the origin of the various sentient plant races on Krynn (such as myconids and treants)? Did the Greygem make them from other stock? Did various gods make them? Druids create them? Are they ancient experiments of the Wizards of High Sorcery?

They're a delightful mixed bag of things. Chislev gave some of them sentience, mad druids experimented on others, and so forth. The Graygem is Krynn's answer to the process of evolution, which otherwise doesn't seem to happen (the gods create, and then it stays how it is unless some external power or force changes it), so things like tendriculous and shambling mounds might actually be Graygem creations.

Will that info be in the updated Bestiary?

Do you see any myconids in the core rulebooks?

I'm not even sure myconids have appeared in Dragonlance, to be honest. At any rate, we kind of have to work with the MM alone, and add whatever else can be justified on a case by case basis. I was allowed to include a sirine in Legends of the Twins since there's a sirine in the arena in Istar, but I couldn't just throw all of the Monster Manual II-IV, Fiend Folio, etc monsters in Dragonlance books.

That said, the revised Bestiary (already on sale as a PDF, and in printed form in stores soonish) has some hints as to how to incorporate some of those non-core WOTC monsters into the campaign.

Cam, is this the same material that came with the Dragonlance DM Screen?

Yes, although I think we added a few things.
