#1bobsutanFeb 07, 2007 23:51:37 | I am not kidding. I was in my local comic/D&D shop and found Dragons of Autum Twilight as a hardback comic. They also had the 2nd book in a FR/Drizzt book (Crystal Shard I think). The 1st Drizzt book wasn't hardback though. Anyway, when did they start doing these? From what I can tell it looked great! I'm running down to grab it on payday ($35 is a bit steep for me right now). |
#2lancereaverFeb 08, 2007 8:23:00 | I saw it on the Internet about a year ago. I only saw one page, but from what I could see, the artwork was good! One day maybe I'll get one.... Anyway, I don't know when they started making them, but that doesn't stop them from being cool!:D |
#3knoxxFeb 08, 2007 17:39:27 | Devil's Due is the publisher. They have just finished Dragons of Winters night and beginning Dragons of Springs Dawning. If the sales of these are good they plan to do the Legends trilogy also. They also have finished Homeland, Exile and Sojourn for the Drizzt series. They are now doing the Crystal Shard Trilogy. You can subscribe to these from them and have them delivered directly to your home as they release them either every month or every other. |

#6rath_the_rangerFeb 09, 2007 8:28:10 | Actually I thought they were jonly through the third issue of dragons of winter night? Nope, the 4th and last issue of Winter Night has been out a couple weeks (got mine last week). Not sure when Spring Dawning is supposed to start, but am looking forward to seeing the artwork for the end of the war battles. Love that DD is doing these comics, although I wish they would finish the Huma series. Didn't know they were doing the books in a Hardcover Graphic Novel; oh well, I'll stick to the regular paper comics, brings back too many memories. |
#7DragonhelmFeb 09, 2007 18:54:54 | Love that DD is doing these comics, although I wish they would finish the Huma series. You and me both! :D |
#8orodruinFeb 09, 2007 20:38:43 | You and me both! :D So you have no involvement whatsoever with the DL Chronicles comic series? |
#9nightside_samuraiFeb 09, 2007 22:10:00 | I saw the comic for Drizz't and it was great! I'm gonna have to take a look for the DL ones.So you have no involvement whatsoever with the DL Chronicles comic series? And if they did? That doesn't detract from the value of the comic. It's hard to tell tone online, but I'm venturing a guess that you think the person is self-promoting. If I'm wrong then disregard the last part and have a nice day :D |
#10knoxxFeb 10, 2007 1:52:33 | They did finish the Huma comic the only problem is they don't have the rights to 1-5 of the series. From the answer I got on their forums they got special permission to finish the series after the publisher that had had it bailed on the series. I don't work for Devil's Due but would like to see them do the Legends series, so I act like I'm in their sales department. I'm 40 and probably enjoy them a bit more than my 6yr old daughter that I read them too. |

It's hard to tell tone online, but I'm venturing a guess that you think the person is self-promoting. Hardly. I know that Dragonhelm was the writer who adapted "Legend of Huma" from the novel to the comic. I don't know who's involved in the "Chronicles" comic series but I surmised from Dragonhelm's statement that he wasn't, (though I for one would think it would be cool if he was) and wanted some confirmation. That's all. |

I can't really get into details, but there were legal issues from all sides and WotC decided to switch the comic license to Devil's Due. Hardly. That's all. Yeah, I'm afraid I'm not involved with Chronicles. That honor goes to Andrew Dabb. The reason I mentioned wishing Huma would go on is because it was a series that was very near and dear to my heart. It combined my love of Dragonlance, The Legend of Huma, and comics into one. It broke my heart when it came to a premature end, but I'm proud of the work I did and am glad to have been a part of it. |
#13silvanthalasFeb 11, 2007 20:10:03 | Not sure when Spring Dawning is supposed to start Some time next month. I need to start remembering to check Diamond's shipping lists on a weekly basis to keep my site up to date for the exact release dates. Devil's Due April order form includes issue #2 for Spring Dawning, so it looks like it will be published on a monthly basis. |
#14knoxxFeb 12, 2007 1:29:38 | Sorry to hear that you couldn't finish the Huma project. What they stated is exactly what you said. I'm guilty of reading between the lines and drawing a conclusion. I need to remember to never assume anything. |
#15rath_the_rangerFeb 12, 2007 9:43:03 | Some time next month. Cool, thanks for the info, I usually forget to check my local shop half the time too. They did finish the Huma comic I didn't think #6 was the end of the actual storyline, though (haven't gotten around to reading it yet); I thought they just finished what was in the works and left it half done. Huma was originally planned as a 12-issue comic, I don't think they finished it in 6 unless they crammed it all in at the last and left a lot undone/untold. Please let me know, thanks. |

Issue #6 was about a third of the way through. The comic could have gone to about issue #18. So the series came to an end, but the story is left untold in comic format. |

Yeah, that's a real bummer. Is there still a chance it would be picked up again for the remaining 12 issues? |
