#1zombiegleemaxApr 04, 2007 15:28:33 | Does anyone know what the constellations of Oerth are? and what sources if any tell you about them. |
#2max_writerApr 05, 2007 10:50:12 | I wrote an article for this for Dragon (rejected) and later Oerthjournal that was supposed to be published in the latter. Still unsure of the status on it. It included a starchart for the northern hemisphere that could be rotated to show the night's sky on any date and time and individual pics of the major constellations (including signs of the zodiac) as well as some background on them. I think it fell through the cracks. |
#3grodogApr 05, 2007 22:07:52 | Sounds good: how about posting it here or to Canonfire!? |
#4MortepierreApr 06, 2007 3:31:26 | Does anyone know what the constellations of Oerth are? and what sources if any tell you about them. What they are in the sense of "what they look like", no. What they are in the sense of "what they are made of", yes. It's explained in the 2e SJ accessory SJR6 Greyspace (yes, sue me, I like Spelljammer) |
#5max_writerApr 06, 2007 10:53:50 | Sounds good: how about posting it here or to Canonfire!? I'll see what I can do. I need to contact the Oerth Journal editor again first to make sure it hasn't been slated for issue 20 or anything. However, I do NOT have a scanner and posting the maps is unlikely. Ideas? |
#6grodogApr 08, 2007 23:29:52 | Worst comes to worst, you could always mail the maps (I'm assuming that they're hand-drawn?) and someone could scan them and return them to you! Either way, I would ping Rick again first to make sure he's not already slotted the article into an upcoming OJ :D |
#7max_writerApr 09, 2007 10:39:20 | The maps are hand drawn. I sent an email to Rick yesterday (would have been Friday but my email refused to send or reply!). I'll keep you posted on what I hear from him. |
#8max_writerApr 10, 2007 10:22:47 | Sorry for the double post. Rick contacted me. The article is in the queue for OJ but it's takin a while to get the starcharts done. So, look for it in an upcoming Oerth Journal at Canonfire. |
#9zombiegleemaxApr 11, 2007 15:06:18 | Hextor (0°) Gorgon (30°) Halflings in Coitus (60°) Drider (90°) Wemic (120°) Gelatinous Cube (150°) St. Cuthbert (180°) Ankheg (210°) Beholder (240°) Blind Billy Goat (270°) Osprem (300°) Aboleths (330°) Not really. I was just bored at work. |
#10grodogApr 15, 2007 16:27:48 | Rick contacted me. The article is in the queue for OJ but it's takin a while to get the starcharts done. So, look for it in an upcoming Oerth Journal at Canonfire. Excellent news! :D The 12 Signs of the Oerth Zodiac But none-the-less, the idea of including monsters, gods, and items (artifacts/relics?) in the constellations is worthwhile; perhaps also include some geographic features (forest, cliffs, etc.). I also like the the idea of each culture having different constellations (like the calendars), since each might see the sky differently. |
#11max_writerJul 19, 2007 17:22:59 | Oerthjournal #22 is out with the Constellations of Oerth article included. You can download it at: http://www.oerthjournal.com/oj22.html |
#12zombiegleemaxJul 20, 2007 10:35:07 | Thank you for your hard work!!!! |
#13ripvanwormerJul 20, 2007 17:09:51 | Seriously, that article's pretty awesome. I like it a lot. |
#14grodogJul 20, 2007 22:14:46 | Thanks for the heads-up, I'll definitely have to check it out :D |
#15max_writerJul 23, 2007 10:45:29 | Thanks guys. It was edited down a little bit and later in the article is mentions "other effects" that were removed from the article I think (or I sent a copy that didn't have them for some reason). |
#16ripvanwormerAug 15, 2007 1:59:44 | Howl From the North mentions a constellation of the Swan in the northern winter skies (page 27). |
#17max_writerAug 21, 2007 10:50:29 | Oops, must have missed that one. |
