Question concerning Elements(Domains)

In the DS3 PDF it says that instead of a Deity, the cleric chooses and Element.

So, I chose water. But what are these Adjacent Elements? Does that mean if I choose water, I get not only the Water Element Domains to choose from, but also the Rain and Silt Adjacent Element Domains to choose from as well?

Help me out, I'm a little confused.

You can cast every spell available on the Cleric spell list. You also pick 2 domains available to a water Cleric listed on page 27 pf DS3. Domain spells can only go in your domain bonus spell slot unless it is also on the Cleric spell list as well.

A couple of varient rules we have used as well.

1. Replace the Domains in DS3 with the standard PHB Air, Earth, Fire Water. A Cleric picks an elemental domain and one other domain of their choice.

2. Elemental focus. Rather than an alignment restriction Clerics pick an element and cannot use spells opposed to that element. This means dood aligned clerics can use evil spells and vice versa but it sorta fits in DS which isn't overly concerned with alignments compared to a normal D&D world.

Okay, thanks for the clarification, Zardnaar. I guess the only thing I don't like is the fact that the clerics get all the normal spells as well.

Which makes them very similar. I mean, granted, their chosen element(s) give them different weapon/armor proficiencies, but their spells should vary by more than just domain spells that can only be cast once per day, don't you agree?

Yeah Clerics usually end up similar to each other. To make it worse Clerics tend to use a few spells again and again as they asre alot beter than other spells of their level. Clerics are one of the most powerful classes i the game but also one of the most boring. Even with prestige classes they still tend to be boring.

Wow, Ruhl. This is great.

I've been working on my own world/setting for a while. It's -very- elemental-based. So lazily for the last year I've been converting all of the 2nd Edition Wizard and Cleric spells to 3Ed format. This was after I made the Necronomicon. It's been a very long, long list.

However, your list, for Dark Sun is awesome. I applaud and thank you for your hard work put into this. And I will be updating my priest lists with your list post-haste.

Thanks, man,
