#1zkirJun 02, 2007 5:45:11 | How words with -j at the end (Draj, Gaj) should be pronounced? |
#2elonarcJun 02, 2007 6:12:43 | Just a guess: I, being a German, pronounce them "Drai" and "Gai". |
#3KamelionJun 02, 2007 6:33:03 | I tend to drift between a few different pronunciations, which I vary depending on which NPC is speaking, as a way to represent the fact that different city-states have different accents. In my usual version, the "a" is like in "father" and the "j" is like in "jump". Sometimes the "a" is like in "fat", though. And other times the "j" is like in the French "jour". And other times I pronounce it "throatwarbler mangrove". But never in public. [tangent]Elonarc, your new sig cracked me up: "If your are too lazy to spell right, then please don't write at all. Moron." Shouldn't it be "If you are too lazy..."? Y'know - just saying :D...[/tangent] |
#4kalthandrixJun 02, 2007 8:42:17 | Damn - Kam has called the pokemon out! The blood shall flow tonight. Oh - and it could also be "you're". :D |
#5elonarcJun 02, 2007 12:09:51 | Both of you are right. I copied it from a user from another forum, but have signatures turned off on this board (because of signatures like Kal's), so I never noticed. Thanks. |
#6jon_oracle_of_athasJun 02, 2007 15:41:11 | I, being a German, pronounce them "Drai" and "Gai". I pronounce it the same way Elonarc does. My native language is also of the Germanic language family. I had quite the discussion with Brax on our differences in pronounciation when I visited in Vegas. :P |

Yah, you think you could condense your signature a little bit Kal? It's making my eyes hurt! |
#8terminus_vortexaJun 02, 2007 16:43:05 | I've told Elonarc before that he communicates in typed English better than many Americans whom I know. I can't stand that chopped up garbage that so many people choose to type with. I usually don't even read posts written with "u"s and "y"s and "boi"s and such. It kills brain cells. |

#10terminus_vortexaJun 02, 2007 18:47:49 | But I'm such a good hater......... I even hate to hate things, and I hate that I hate to hate them! |
#11kalthandrixJun 02, 2007 21:06:43 | Yah, you think you could condense your signature a little bit Kal? It's making my eyes hurt! Yeah sure. And while I am at it, I will start condensing the Bible too because I have heard people say it is too long too. |
