#2zombiegleemaxJun 06, 2007 6:25:44 | I dont think that it has been written down anywhere officially. However, once a wizard takes the Test they do not have to take the levels in the PrC. That is only for mages who dedicate themselves to the Orders and to the magic. The Kingfishers are one example. If you have Knightly Orders look at the example in that work. He has only two levels in WOHS and many more in just plain wizard. |

It's the same with the Knights of Solamnia - you don't have to have the classes to be a knight. Towers of High Sorcery should explain this, too, especially since we revised that class and removed the "you get this class immediately upon passing the Test" nonsense from the DLCS. Cheers, Cam |
#4zombiegleemaxJun 06, 2007 13:56:28 | I dont think that there was anything wrong with how WOTC set it up in the DLCS. MWP just gave more options. Still not as bad as some of the editorial things that have come out since in DL sources. |
#5clarkvalentineJun 06, 2007 14:31:44 | The statement in the DLCS that someone who passes the test "automatically gains a level of this class" is pretty bad. All sorts of confusion came from that. |

The prerequisites were also lousy, and there were a few other things that needed fixing. All in all, I'm glad we got the chance to revise it. Cheers, Cam |

But most Dms in my experience give enough xp in the Test so that characters can take a level i nthE PRC anyway. |
#8cam_banksJun 06, 2007 22:32:55 | But most Dms in my experience give enough xp in the Test so that characters can take a level i nthE PRC anyway. Right, but if they don't have all the prerequisites yet for some reason, they can still take the Test and not qualify for the PrC. Like Raistlin. Cheers, Cam |
#9zombiegleemaxJun 06, 2007 23:32:56 | But Raistlin was young when he took the Test, that accounts for it I would say. |
#10clarkvalentineJun 06, 2007 23:35:40 | So? He still didn't qualify for the PrC, which the DLCS says he is required to qualify for. Just like many wizard player characters out there - I distinctly remember a thread where a player complained that it was so difficult to get all the feats for the PrC by 5th level, but he had no choice because he was required to qualify. That confusion is now gone. (Er. For the players who have a copy of ToHS, anyway.) |
