From the back of the book:

“Bloodie Hie! By the Laws of the Street, we, the Sons of the Dawn, challenge the Bowery Boys for control of Patrick Block and the Bakery of Finnigan!”

The two sides, disheveled and rank, glared at one another. A town guard stood to the side under a building eave. He watched but made no move to break up the impending rumble. Candles lit the second-story windows, and as the evening sun finally set, a green-striped Son hurled the gutted remains of rabbit at the Boys.
The Boys stared at the object for a moment, then, with a shout, the battle was joined.

This is the eighth entry among the unofficial Gazetteer-F gaming aids for enthusiasts of the world of Mystara. This work covers the town of Landfall, a place of opportunity – both good and bad. The Empires and Thieves’ Guilds carry out their private wars in the streets, while the population hopes to escape the more violent criminals who lurk in the shadows.

“The Streets of Landfall” describes the history, society, and controlling factions of a town where everyone owes, and everyones pays … eventually. This product covers options for thieves and running guilds. It also provides guidelines for scoundreling the non-thief classes.

The gazetteer may be downloaded here.

There are presently two maps, town and regional

Sorry the wait (and the inevitable typos).

I just glanced through it quickly and it looks like it contains a lot of great ideas for use in a campaign. I hope to get a chance later in the weekend to read through it.

Can't wait to read it. Should we post corrections (typos, grammer and such) or would you rather be contacted outside the board?

No sign of the citywall, the narrow streets or any of the work done on the previous Landfall thread where such gems as wooden (drawbridge style) docks could be raised to become defensive walls, or that Pandoras Box collected coins and produced wooden buildings that grew into existance overnight making it a ratwarren of changing and shifiting streets that pass through, under and over buildings. Pity.

go ahead and put them here.

Pity.

Don't be so quick to think such things aren't included. The citywall was specifically made incomplete - nearly nonexistent, but segments of the piers are drawbridged, and Pandora's Box was adapted with a little tweaking in the adventure setting (it wasn't the cause of Landfall's condition, but it could worsen it). The overall cityscape is in line with that in CM1 - mostly squalid two-story wooden buildings leaning into one another.

Skimmed through and it's great. Somewhere there is a typo G(l)antri vs Alphatia.

I liked the slang on the last page...

....escaped a mourning drop in the damn impire, that's how I got 'ere. First night in town, mistook a bludger for a star-gazer. Lost a high tide I did, but at least I'm not in a wooden coat. Got my sand together, hooked up with a hairy-faced stout and a special tinker, both made guys, and we be rootting and racketting ever since.

Sounds right?

Huzzah!

Love the cover and map. I am so happy to see another gaz in this series. I hope you never stop making them!

I'll try to get back with comments sometime next week, when I have a bit more time.

Just a quick response to say that IMO the artwork is the best of the range yet.

Great job! I'm eager to take a more thorough look through, but in initial skimming, this is great! I love the different factions described. The narrative on page 8 and the back cover, though, refers to "Sons of the Dawn," but I couldn't find any more details--I think it would be nice to either flesh them out or replace those references with one of the other groups. Overall, though, this looks great!

Sounds roit as wrong, guv'ner.

Rafael and Isabela, the same two responsible for the wonderful cover on the Western Alliance, deserve all credit and praise here. Rafael is also the artist who has done almost all of the interior art in the series.

Actually, this is not an oversight but intentional. The Sons of the Dawn were a rival Redstone ethnic block that fought with the Bowery Rats for control of the Bowery. The back blurb should be considered an historical excerpt.

Pay attention to the story progression in the narratives in both the Player and Referee Manual - they are not occurring simultaneously. The Ref narrative in particular covers 12-16 years of Life on the Streets: Landfall. And, the two narratives are tied together.

Haven't got time to see everything yet. The thief variants are interesting, especially the specializations after level 9 and the Fence. The "Super Thief" could also fill nicely as a Ninja specialization for Myoshima, BTW.

A great read so far!

I'll have comments and thoughts later on, but I notice that some locations on the regional map are unlabelled.

I must say, and not to denigrate the other products, which were by and large fantastic, but this is clearly the gem of the bunch so far.

Many thanks for everyone's kind words.

The Super Thief is an adaptation of Havard's suggestion for advanced thieves.

If anyone was wondering, the reason for the odd discrepency on the base XP for the Fence/Bawd as a split-class (2000) and a stand-alone (500) is because of the template for each. The former was based on the Darokinian Merchant Class (5000 MXP) and the latter on the Gaz F5 Magician (500 XP) which also shares the limited HD accrual.

Geoff,

which "unlabelled" parts of the regional map do you mean? There is one village along the northern coast that hasn't been named but will be in the Oceansend gaz and a peak in the Final Range.

Anything else?

I'm referring to Felspel's Hold, Haldis Town, Luho, and Forton Post - all of these places are unlabelled on the map; although it's easy enough to figure out which is which.

So now that people have had a chance to digest the Gaz, do people have any specific elements they loved/hated/had questions about?

The feed-back, both positive and negative, is useful and helps me focus on the upcoming project. I'd also like to hear back on the two narratives.

To start off:

Evergreen Terrace - to the best of my knowledge, there is no El Barto terrorizing the neighborhood (sorry, James). The Simpsons connection was wholly accidental. I was more in a "Jersey is the Garden State" frame of mind when coming up with names. "Evergreen Terrace" justed sounded like such a nice place to get whacked. :D

Rinaldi Point came about because of Gross Point Blank (just had to have a point somewhere), while Fallen Alley did originally come from the street's profession of choice but was retconned during the history edit to refer to a civic construction mishap.
