Jul 06, 2007 18:22:52 Just been reaidng through Terrors of Athas and I'm wondering if its time to revise some of it?

Alot of the CRs are drastically out of whack along with armor classes etc. A Gaj at CR 9 has the same AC as a CR 19 air drake for example while alot of the ACs are really low probably due to the conversion from 2nd ed where AC topped out at about 30 in 3.5 terms. The air drake for example I would probably bump the AC up to about 34 or so as it lacks SR/PR and only has a handfull of psionic power.

The size of monsters in 2nd ed didn't matter so much but in 3.5 it matters due to grapple checks and special attacks like grab and swallow whole etc. Just wondering if some of them should be downsized to bring them more in line with their CR.

Jul 06, 2007 21:53:49 One thing I noticed was that it was difficult to find a variety of lower-CR encounters. Perhaps a few of them should be lowered or some new ones added in?

Jul 08, 2007 21:12:00 Mark did a revision before he retired, and I think Gab is doing one as well, but he's very very busy with his PhD. IIRC, it will also have some additional monsters like the Athasian versions of some of the monsters that weren't on the other releases, plus random encounter tables as well.

(I would really like for it to be on the new MM4 format, with all that extra flavor added, but that would require some serious extra hands, which we don't have right now... )
