#1scoti_garbidisJul 29, 2007 21:29:16 | I am currently running a Greyhawk campaign and my PCs are foreigners in Ahlissa. I read this group goes after foreigners and was wondering if anymore info is available other than what i found in the Gazetteer from 2002. |
#2rob_douglasJul 30, 2007 8:00:18 | There is a ton of info in Ivid the Undying. See http://canonfire.com for access to Ivid, or google it. Get the pretty one with covers, and maps included. There is also information in Oerth Journals: #16 (Improved gazeteer on Ahlissa, casual mention). #17 (Kalstrand including updates on Midnight Darkness) #18 (Zelradton in the South Province, i.e. Ahlissa, updated to 591) see http://oerthjournal.com ROB |

#4thanaelJul 31, 2007 9:26:47 | Best pdf version so far: http://www.io.com/~wmallman/ivid.html Alternate covers available on canonfire: http://www.canonfire.com/cfhtml/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=1413 (2nd page) What's the Midnight Darkness Society again? |
#5rob_douglasJul 31, 2007 10:02:32 | They are a group of assassins working in the South Privince/Rauxes area, depending on the timeframe. They work for Nerull, but there is a leader who works for Tharizdun "secretly". They assassinate primarily good priests - Pholtus and Cuthbert being prime targets. Most powerful individuals include 15th level thief (rogue?) and 13th level clerics, and a 10th level bard, as of Ivid. There is a whole section on their goals in Ivid. ROB |
#6max_writerJul 31, 2007 10:27:36 | Scoti, I made up the First Trackers a while back. Here are my original notes: ---------------------- The First Trackers’ duty is to return criminals. It is up to the courts to decide their guilt or innocence. They are sanctioned by the state and a legal organization. Small group, about 200 in the United Kingdom of Ahlissa. Officers generally grow facial hair. Enlisted are required to be clean-shaven. Sign of office is a navy-blue hood (separate from cloak and etc.) over the head. Usually they wear blue coats or tunics as well. The cloak is held with a cloak pin with the symbol of Ahlissa (sun over bar with two birds facing each other). They were made illegal by Ivid I. Disbanded in 445 CY. Xavener reinstated the order in 588 CY. "First Trackers never give up." ---------------------- Any help? |
#7scoti_garbidisJul 31, 2007 10:30:32 | Thanks for all the help everyone. I found an article in Dungeon #136 about a group called "The Lavender Rose." I am gonna use the stats from the Thorns of Rose thugs for my initial baddies. I figure they can rough up the PC who punched the local and see where it goes from there. |
#8scoti_garbidisSep 05, 2007 16:47:46 | Well, I have decided to add another twist to my Order of the Lavender Rose people. I have made them a chaotic group with aspirations of being part of Midnight Darkness but Midnight Darkness despises them and their sloppy work. The Order at some time removed a foreigner from the lands who possessed a Pallid Mask and the Carcosa Codex. This person didn't know what they were transporting. The Order has since taken the arrival of these "gifts" as fate and proof of their strength and necessity in the region. One of the Order has read the Carcosa Codex and become completely insane but he wasn't far off to begin with. Now they offer sacrifices to the Yellow King in the form of foreigners they have captured........ The group's stable boy/torch bearer has disappeared and they believe it to be the Order's doing. Tonight we find out. |
