#1sidestepperAug 02, 2007 1:08:06 | I am considering using the World Serpent Inn during my Greyhawk campaign. This part seemed easy to do, but I also wanted to use Sigil. I don't know what this place is supposed to be like in D&D 3.5. Based on what is said about the Outlands, Sigil should have no magic, since it is at the center of this plane. Or, is it affected in some way that allows magic to be used normally? It is not clear to me how it works now. What resource have this information. Could I be give direct likes to it? Thank you! |

The only way in or out of Sigil (aside from jumping over the edge) is the city's portals, and that's the only limitation. This is because Sigil is an impossible place. Magic works there, even though magic shouldn't work in the center of the Outlands. It's at the top of an infinite spire, even though infinitely tall things shouldn't have tops. People live there, even though life itself should be impossible in the place it's located, which is a place that logically doesn't exist. Yet it does. That's Sigil for you. The best 3.5 source on the city is Expedition to the Demonweb Pits. You should also download Chapter 7 of the PSCS Releases. |

In addition to what Rip said, I'd like to bring up the possibility that Sigil isn't actually in the Outlands. Nobody really knows where it is, because no other plane is visible outside the city. There's a roughly torus-shaped object visible above the Spire, and this leads many (perhaps most) people to assume that it's Sigil, and thus Sigil is in the Land. But I don't think there's any actual evidence that such is the case. |

I have much reading to do. Sidestepper |
