#1zombiegleemaxSep 07, 2007 12:53:10 | Return to where it all began people... "Greyhawk" had it all. Virgin lands, Untapped wealth and Open borders. Reboot this world and Bring Dungeons and Dragons home to where it belongs. |
#2the_ubbergeekSep 07, 2007 19:50:28 | And anyway, Greyhawk is NOT the first setting - it's blackmoor and Mystara as they are now called (albeit GH was the first seriously compilled and organised). And the best? depend on one's liking. |
#3rauricSep 07, 2007 22:37:57 | Hey give him a break. He just signed up today |
#4neon_knightSep 08, 2007 0:38:25 | And anyway, Greyhawk is NOT the first setting - it's blackmoor and Mystara as they are now called (albeit GH was the first seriously compilled and organised). And the best? depend on one's liking. How so? Greyhawk, being Gary's World, and Blackmoor Being Dave Arneson's World, were concieved before the rules were put to paper. Faerun ma |
#5neon_knightSep 08, 2007 15:01:16 | I like greyhawk, LOVE Greyhawk in fact. |
#6rauricSep 08, 2007 15:59:32 | Heh, I just posted because I noticed you were not being nice going from one Campaign area to the next saying they were no good. Not sure who is supposed to be pretending to be elite. I was just calling a spade a spade. |
#7caeruleusSep 08, 2007 19:35:46 | And anyway, Greyhawk is NOT the first setting - it's blackmoor and Mystara as they are now called (albeit GH was the first seriously compilled and organised). And the best? depend on one's liking. I believe Mystara was only created for the Expert Set in the early 80's. But, yes, Blackmoore was concieved int he 70's, published in 75, but so too was Greyhawk, and infact, the following two images show that Greyhawk could be concieved as being the older of the two as it is Listed as Supplement I, while Blackmore is listed as Supplement II I believe Arneson had his supplement written before Gygax did, and Gygax just pushed to have his published first. And Gygax only came up with Castle Greyhawk after hearing about Arneson's Blackmoor campaign in the dungeons of a castle. Not to take away from Gygax's contributions, but Arneson's campaign was first. You wanna be Elitists are exactly why 4e will fail if you get a voice. Allowing mistakes go uncorrected doesn't help either. Telling someone they're wrong doesn't mean you're better than them, it's about helping everyone get the facts straight. |
#8drowbattlemindSep 08, 2007 19:53:32 | Pathetic and elitist, huh? Amazing. You don't even know me, and you've already gotten two things wrong in just one post! Absolutely amazing! Another amazing thing, you've just began posting within the last 72 hours, and you've managed to P/$$ off just about everyone on all of the boards I've seen you post on, even the one you claim is the best. That's truly a remarkable feat. You'd think this was the Religion & Spirituality boards at Yahoo! Answers. |
#9DragolothSep 08, 2007 23:41:15 | Don't feed the immature trolls, you will only make them grow. A little advice to the OP, going to the boards for other settings to flame will tag you with a bad rep. |
#10eileenprophetofistusSep 27, 2007 6:01:07 | I would like to take the opportunity to once again emplore WOTC to begin publication once again of Greyhawk. Whether it was the first world or not really doesn't matter. I sorely believe that it is the most "missed by the fans" and as a result it is my first and my best. |
#11drowbattlemindSep 27, 2007 21:54:50 | Agreed. |
#12cebrionSep 28, 2007 1:32:24 | The sales results for issues of Dragon and Dungeon containing Greyhawk material do not lie. You can lead a camel to free marketing research, but you cannot make it drink. |
#13wizo_kaynSep 28, 2007 7:24:39 | Stay on topic please and stay away from flamey, baiting remarks. Thanks WizO Kayn |
#14chatdemonSep 30, 2007 4:01:57 | The sales results for issues of Dragon and Dungeon containing Greyhawk material do not lie. The magazines "sales results" obviously didn't overly excite anyone calling the shots as Hasbro or WotC, or they would still be in print. Despite the undocumented claims of some Paizo employees, the sales figures, and more importantly, concrete market research to explain why specific issues of the magazines did or did not perform well, are not available to more than a handful of folks, few if any of which are posting here. The "Paizo roolz, WotC droolz" mindset may be a valid one in Greyhawk circles, but as I suspect the WizO posting before me was suggesting, this is really not the place for it. |
#15lgmosesOct 08, 2007 0:49:23 | 4e doesn't seem to bode well for Greyhawk. Several institutions that Greyhawk is deeply based on are being destroyed. It is the First and Best and I will always remember Living Greyhawk. It will be missed. |
