It seems likely that there may not be many follow-up products beyond the Worldbook (except for the likes of Forgotten Realms and Eberron). So, I'd like to see each Worldbook to be as big as Ptolus - even if it had to be in black & white to reduce the cost. Travis |
#2Elemental_ElfSep 09, 2007 23:04:50 | Ptolus is huge and expensive. People can barely afford the $40 investment in a normal Campaign Setting, let alone Ptolus' $100+. Now, don't get me wrong, I wish they could do something like Ptolus but I just don't see it being economically viable |

Think of it as an investment for the future, a book of that size has tons of fluff that has nothing to do with rules so even if there would be a 10th edition the book would still be viable to use. ;) As my friend is running us a Ptolus campaign once my WoT campaing has reached it's end, I won't mind if the book is huge. :P Besides think about FR atm. I have players guide 30€, campaign setting 45€, deitied & demigods for FR 30€, monsters of FR 15€, magic of Faerun 30€ -> 150€ excluding all other books that I have. Ptolus includes stuff worth all those books that I mentioned for a measly 100€ and it comes with a DVD for laptop use. In that light a 100€ for a book isn't really that much to buy. Ofc it depends on where you live but I have long a go customised that everything costs double here in the north, compared to south. edit: I'm also a bit exited as the campaing in the book is designed for 1 to 20th level and so far our campaigns have usually stalled to somewhere around 10th -12th level, so it will be our groups first high power level campaign. |
