#1fodiggSep 11, 2007 11:15:30 | Greetings! I am in the middle of writing a custom campaign setting for my group and rain/water plays a very large role in the setting. Rain in this would is incongruously viewed as both necessary for life (drinking water) and dangerous/deadly/evil (flash flooding). I glanced through the lists of "core" gods and goddesses and was dissapointed in that there didn't seem to be any deity that focuses on something so focal to my campaign. When I searched other campaign settings for deities that I might be able to use, I came across Tlaloc. Unfortunately, I have no experience with the Greyhawk setting and have no knowledge of the lore surrounding this figure. Of course I turned to the Tlaloc wiki entry for information, but I am not certain how much of the original mythology matches with the greyhawk god. From the Tlaloc wiki:

#3GreysonSep 11, 2007 15:47:41 | I would be very grateful for any information you could give me or point me towards on the subject of Tlaloc. Tlaloc is an intermediate Lawful Evil deity of rain from the World of Greyhawk's Olman people. Tlaloc is listed in Living Greyhawk's Official Listing of Deities Ver. 2.0. But, I imagine it uses The Scarlett Brotherhood as source material. That is where Tlaloc was introduced to Greyhawk by Sean Reynolds. In The Scarlett Brotherhood, the picture shows his holy symbol with horns. But, the text says he has tusks... Here is a link to the Deities document: http://www.wizards.com/rpga/downloads/LG_Deities.zip Go to page 168 and you'll get game information (Domains, favored weapon, etc...). You'll have to find a copy of The Scarlett Brotherhood to get its flavor text. I hope this helps. |
