#2jaidOct 08, 2007 13:27:17 | as i understand it, the war is mostly over. the scro have largely been defeated within the known spheres, but i don't believe their home world has even been found, let alone attacked. furthermore, while the scro have been defeated as a fleet, there will still be the scattered remnants of the fleet, quite possibly relying more heavily on other races than on themselves (ie, using goblinoids, kobolds, orcs, ogres, etc, with the scro acting more in the role of commanders). there will likely be a few hidden outposts in some spheres, and possibly even some worlds/spheres still under their control (the IEN is likely making plans to attack these worlds/spheres and liberate them at some point) certainly, the home world is going to be gearing up for another war. the scro are perhaps the most terrifying enemy the IEN could have imagined, because the scro have the orc's breeding rate, but they are a great deal more well organised, and think things through a lot more. in the end, unless the scro can be destroyed entirely, or at least scattered, the elves can expect war after war after war until the scro win through attrition, unless the elves start making alliances with other races imo. in any event, while it is certainly implied that the war is largely over by the end of spelljammer canon, that doesn't mean you can't put the war whenever you feel like it in *your* spelljammer canon. in particular, even if the war is 'over', there's nothing stopping you from having the events in those adventures occuring in one or two spheres that are still scro-occupied, and the elves haven't put the resources together to actually launch an assault on the spheres in question (particularly since, iirc, the spheres the adventure takes place in are largely not inhabited, or not inhabited by elves. moragspace, for example, was chosen as an outpost for the scro fleet specifically because it was largely empty space, iirc) |

Perhaps the intensity of the conflict is lowered, but there is still a struggle. I think the main point of the war is that the Elven Imperial Navy is no longer dominant. |
