#1havardOct 14, 2007 9:05:19 | Another Blackmoor related topic! My Blackmoor campaign has undergone some major changes and I am now using the Savage Worlds system. The campaign currently revolves around a Mercenary Band known as the Bloodhounds who are exploring the Dismal Swamp in search of Frog Cultists. For my own amusements sake, I would like to throw in some details here and there that are directly tied to Mystara. The campaign is strictly Mystaran following the facts that there are no Orcs or Goblins around, Blackmoor is set on Skothar etc. But I would also like to throw in some more elements that play directly into the story. For instance I am thinking about using a character named Asterian, who ofcourse later will go on to become the Immortal Asterius. Does anyone have other similar ideas or suggestions? Havard |

Check on what current Immortals where doing in Blackmoor -- some might be fairly young (Khoronus), or older ones might be around (Verthandi? Ouranos?) Elves are long lived enough that direct ancestors of modern elves (especially those of Denagoth) might appear in the campaign. Other Mystaran civilizations are old enough to appear in a Blackmoor campaign:

Something taken from the Dragonlord Trilogy? - the far Dragonwatch keep on Brun: given the fact that it was built by mages, it might be built centuries before Blackmoor became a great technological power: you might introduce some mages who are going to travel very far to build the foundations of this castle... - Dragons should not have a Parliament in the Wyrmsteeth Range (if I remember well it will be founded in 2500BC or so), but they possibly should have some other governement type (possibly the "meetpoint" for each color race described in AC10). Moreover, grey dragons should be quite more common than now (see the background of the Old One for further info). - Eldars (the ancestors of both gold dragons and elves) might be a little more common than now; possibly thet haven't yet retired with the dragons and they still roam the world in search for knowledge and adventure. They should be all mages and they should be considered as sages or so. - Many elves should be more in touch with dragons, and possibly they still live nearby, listening for the songs the dragon sing in the nighttime (this is took from the Trilogy: dragons sing during some special nights in the Wyrmsteeth Range, and many elves from the Foresthomes gather in suitable places on the hills to hear their songs). Apart from the Dragonlord Trilogy, you might introduce also some info about the Faerie folks and the like, as it is described in PC1 module: it is said that the magical people once lived mostly in Thonia, but they began to move to Blackmoor when the empire became decadent. Centuries later, the magical folks moved again, when they realized that the technological society of Blackmoor was doing no good for the world. My two cents ;) |
