Well, there is a topic somewhere about ravenloft music, just search a little. ;)
As for tips, just use some candles instead of lights, remove anything that might ruin the atmoshpère: a working computer, a T.V. playing some movie. And, if you can, try to be alone at home with your players, so no moms to ask: "Are you fine? Need anything?" or non-player wife asking: "Are you done yet? I'm bore? Could you spend a little time with me and go back after?" And... turn those damn cell phone off! (exceptions: if someone is waiting for an important call.)

Cell phones are a huge no no at my games. Also easy way to do it, dim the lights or turn them off and light candles to play by and just use a table cloth (black if possible), gives the feel of quite when its dark and they listen to you more so use more sound effects, hisses and stuff when they do listen checks.

There are a good number of topics on this board concerning music, atmosphere and scary things to increase enjoyment. The Ravenloft DMG has a great number of ideas, if you have that book I suggest a reading from front to back.

Two words: black light. You can buy black light bulbs (the tubes, not those horrible incandescent fakes) and plug-in lights at any hardware store or even at Wal-Mart. If there's a novelty store nearby, sometimes they carry black light lanterns (like those camping lanterns with the fluorescent tubes, except black lights instead) which is more portable and less cumbersome. Get some eyedrops that dilate your eyes (the ones optometrists use) and anyone who takes them will have glowing eyes in the black light. Finally, black lights offer just enough light to see the game by (keep a pen or book light just in case) but shroud everything outside of it in shadows. Dice with numbers painted in white often show up well enough to play by, as do neon dice with dark numbers. The light (and lack thereof) is perfect for a creepy game.
