#1PennarinNov 07, 2007 14:42:52 | I thought I would go strolling along the shores of the Mature boards, the replacement for the Book of Vile Darkness boards - a product now discontinued - thinking I would see many new PrCs, items, demons, evil characters, great undead concepts....well, like it was a while back. Surprise suprise! Nothing but...sex! /rant (WizOs: This thread is not meant for everyone, so please don't send it the way of the General boards, as I only care about the opinion of these people.) |
#2jaidNov 07, 2007 18:48:53 | i don't really bother going there much (possibly related to the fact that i don't particularly like either book that is tied in to those boards), but as the quote goes: you actually expected maturity from the mature boards? |
#3PennarinNov 07, 2007 19:21:23 | I expected vile creations from the Book of Vile Darkness boards, and it was true for a while, but now I have to expect immature comments on the Mature boards... /sight |
#4ruhl-than_sageNov 07, 2007 20:34:15 | Come on it's not all sex and immaturity, there are discussions about alignment and vile things as well.;) |
#5PennarinNov 07, 2007 21:29:49 | Imagine the dark sun boards if you had to wade through 5 threads of Why I Love Rikus, and another 5 threads of Kiuss, Lord Soth, and Spelljamming on Athas, Or Why We Must, before finding a single constructive thread...and then another 10 threads of utter nonsense before the next good one. I'd have given up a long time ago. |
#6jon_oracle_of_athasNov 11, 2007 14:54:38 | Funny. I can imagine someone coming to this forum and seeing 10 of each "Dead or alive SKs?", "Ktandao - human or halfling?", "Kalid-Ma - male or female?", "Green Age campaigns", "Is there a Dark Sun 3.5 conversion?", "Athas.org - official or not?", "Paizo vs. athas.org", "Athasian Paladins", "Templars and Gladiators - core or hack?", "Space halflings - must or dust?" and "Stats for elflings?"... :P |
#7KamelionNov 11, 2007 17:49:02 | You forgot "New system for defiling magic!" :D |
#8chahirNov 11, 2007 19:13:30 | And speaking of new defiling system, I thought I would revive Sysane's thread on that very topic. :D Y'all have to admit, it one of the parts of DS where there is least consensus. I ran a game with a defiler with Paizo rules, but feel there could be so much more if a fully fledged system could b developed. Sorry to step on any toes or ressurect any dead kanks. Chahir |
#9PennarinNov 11, 2007 22:18:01 | lol :D Sure, those threads are weird and redundant...but are usually answered seriously and can convey constructive info to people. Of course this very thread I'm typing on is non-constructive and effectively worthless too....heheheh! I did say it was a rant, you've been warned! ;) |
#10darthazazelNov 15, 2007 1:48:19 | There are some strange topics over there! AZAZEL |
#11jon_oracle_of_athasNov 18, 2007 16:08:00 | Where is this freak forum? |
#12mouthymercNov 18, 2007 16:26:41 | Where is this freak forum? Here. |
#13RalofTyrNov 28, 2007 0:55:42 | I matured your mother last night... |
#14jon_oracle_of_athasDec 01, 2007 5:29:33 | I get an error message following that link, but it doesn´t sound like I am losing out on anything. The Dark Sun Boards are mature enough. :P |
#15true_atlanteanDec 04, 2007 7:39:17 | Unfortunately that is what you can expect when you use the title 'mature' on anything. I remember in my days a a con organiser, I was over-ruled in the naming of the last session of the evening. The other wanted it as a mature session, where games that had 'mature' content could be demonstrated (like WoD and such). The behaviour I saw at some of these games was definately no more mature than the day gaming, and I could say the same about the treatment of the 'mature' topics; which revolved primarily around sex and drugs. Can't say I'm surprised at what I saw on those forums, either. Oh, and by the way, hi to everyone - this is my first post here. I generally hang around the Out of Print and Dragonlance forums, but having rediscovered Spelljammer and Dark Sun, I plan on hangng about here too. Thus far, the posts I've viewed have been very helpful and rekindled the memories of why I liked Dark Sun. |

If you label something as mature, or only for adults, the results is nothing but talk of sex and drugs -- and usually very immature attitudes about it all at that. Oh, and by the way, hi to everyone - this is my first post here. #17PennarinDec 04, 2007 16:10:57 | Indeed, welcome! |
#18brun01Dec 04, 2007 18:39:38 | Welcome! One more Brazilian scouring the boards, I hope. :D |
#19true_atlanteanDec 07, 2007 5:15:51 | Welcome! :D Thanks for the warm welcome, guys. No Brun01, I'm in in Australia. Sorry to disappoint... |
#20brun01Dec 07, 2007 5:24:33 | Still in the southern hemisphere, it's all good ;) |
#21goricexiiDec 07, 2007 8:17:39 | Sounds nice. I don't have to use my imagination to use "Frostburn" up here in Canada right now. BTW--for those interested, perhaps check out my threads on the Mature Forum "The Aftermath of War" and "Using Evil Tempters" if you want maybe something that isn't all about sex. My stuff is related more to how to flesh out my rather gritty war campaign. |
