#1dagaronNov 09, 2007 10:02:28 | Hello all. First I'm a lurker in this forum quite often. I've always had a fondness for the Dark Sun setting, stemmed from the Dark Sun Shattered Lands PC game. Well, I've made the decision to hit eBay and pick up as much of the books/boxed sets for the Dark Sun setting as I can. I'm planning on going through it all and setting up a homebrew (using a lot of official material/story) with 4th Edition rules when it is released. I'll probably be seeking opinions often on here once I really start digging in. Now on track: I want to use D&D miniatures to represent my campaign (as I play D&D Mini skirmish). Here's a list of pieces that I feel will be useful for monsters etc. Clawfoot Rider Fiendish Monstrous Scorpion Half-Giant Psychic Warrior Lifeleech Otyugh Otyugh Thri-Kreen Ranger Thri-Kreen Barbarian Bulette Half-Ogre Barbarian Longtooth Barbarian Xorn I haven't really started digging in too much yet, but figured I'd jump in here and see what (if any) pieces I've looked over that can be used as close & good representations. So if you'd be so kind as to post any miniatures that you happen to use I'd appreciate it. I plan on getting a rather large list going (I'll keep the OP updated) for ideas that all can use. Thanks! |

On a side note, you can always check out rpgnow.com for 2nd ED DS downloads. Any item from the TSR DS line was something like $5. While I don't find them as useful as a physical copy, the PDF route is a relatively cheap way to get the entire DS collection. Though buying on non-adventure supplements will still end up cost you around $120. |

If you look through the gallery it's actually a huge disappointment if you are looking for a desert theme. Still there are good figures from the set that can be used for DS easily: Blade Spider (there are a lot of different spiders in Athas) Animated Statue (ruins have statues) Astral Stalker (Half-Giant Zombie) Blood of Vol Fanatic (Makes a good tribal shaman, maybe a druid, or fire or magma cleric) Visejaw Crocodile (Hatori) Dwarf Brawler (Hey he's as close to hairless as any dwarf figure you are likely to find) Fire Archon (actually makes a decent Athasian Wraith) Elf Conjurer (I think he actually would make a decent Air Cleric) Large Fire Elemental Flame Snake Macetail Behemoth (decent stand in for an Inix) Militia Archer (If repainted in brown or tan) Rage Drake (Young Fire Drake) Snake Tongue Cultist (pretty deserty about the only deserty humaniod in the set) Rot Scarab Swarm (why not) Night Below: Carnage Demon (Slig) Hierophant of the Seventh Wind (Air Cleric or Druid) Prisoner (lots of Slaves in DS) Aspect of Loviatar (Slavers are useful too) Earth Mephit Unhallowed: Air Mephit Caller in Darkness (actually DS monster originally) Cleric of Sune (Makes a good Templar of fire Cleric) Fire Mephit Intellect Devourer Torturer (another good slaver) Stone Giant Rune Carver (Half-Giant Earth Cleric?) Wild Elf Warsinger (Desert Warrior) Anyway just look through the galleries and use a little imagination. |
