#1bleedingstarApr 01, 2008 23:12:27 | I know that this is completly off topic, but I can not seem to get any help from anyone on this so I thought I would try to give it a shot here....... I just installed nwn 2 on my laptop and excitedly and eagerly hit the play button. I was bummed to recieve a message from the computer saying that it is not detecting 3d and says that It is going to shut down the game..... I have tried what seems to be everything but nothin. I am not a computer genious but know somethings. If someone could help me with this I would be GREATFUL. PS: MY NOTEBOOK IS A GATEWAY ML6230. |

#3sigil_beguilerApr 02, 2008 2:24:27 | Yeah go to Atari or the NWN 2 board on Bioware website, also see about downloading a updated driver for your graphics card could be that. |
#4xenmasApr 02, 2008 10:24:43 | You will need to update your graphic drivers for sure. Also, NWN2 is extremely resource heavy. There are several sites out there about optomising your computer specifically to run NWN2. The up side of this is, it is an amazing game. Even if you only play the core module it is great, but there are a lot of talented people making modules on the NWN Vault. Good luck, and enjoy :D [Edit] I looked up your laptop, and it looks like you meet the minimum requirements to run the game (Assuming you got it factory spec). Update your drivers, and make certain you are running at least DirectX 10. Check the settings on your video card. I'm not familiar with the Intel models directly, but I know that on the card that I'm running you can turn off some of the higher functions. Are you running under Windows XP or Vista. I believe that there are some compatibility issues with NWN2 and Vista. It crashed my girlfriends laptop when she tried to run it under Vista, but as we both had towers to run it under and the laptop was purchased primarily for use at the gaming table, we never bothered to trouble shoot it. |
#5bleedingstarApr 02, 2008 12:23:52 | I am not really computer savy and know how to update my video card...I might wait until my brother in law can look at it. I have windows vista so I wonder if this is the problem. If someone would like to tell me how to up date my card I would be GREATFULL! BUT THANKS GUYS FOR THE HELP SO FAR I am very eager to play the game but this is probally for the best right now considering the fact that I have a few history papers left to write and a bunch of books to read. |

#7xenmasApr 03, 2008 11:05:18 | Ewwww I'm sad to say, that you might have just picked up a $40 coaster. Like I said, my girlfriend and I just gave up on it, as we have XP systems we could run it on, but I did check Atari's Technical Support site, and they don't even offer support for NWN2 under Vista. If you REALLY want to get it to run, there were a couple of forums where people made some suggestions, but I don't know enough about Vista to endorse any of them. You could also try to run a dual operating system, but from what I have read Vista always attempts to superseed any other operating systems running on a PC. If you are planning on doing any amount of gaming on your PC, I would suggest picking up an XP system. It is going to be years before Microsoft gets all the bugs worked out of Vista, and then releases it under a completely different name (Anyone remember W2K?) Tiger has XP Towers that are capable of running NWN2 for about $800. Looking around on Ebay, Half.com, or Craigslist could probably turn them up even cheaper. Sorry I can't be of more help. Good luck. |
#8sirtristansongsteelApr 06, 2008 11:35:10 | Humm. Laptops aren't really good for gaming, yours probably has an integrated video card and NWN 2 NEEDS a dedicated one. Normaly someone would say, tough luck, you won't be able to play it in a laptop unless you buy a new one specifically designed for gaming. BUT (ah, this is a good but, isn't it?) you can download the program 3D Analyze from the web (search google for it), and run with it. That's what I do and it plays quite nicely in my laptop. Here, look this thread, it may help you: http://nwn2forums.bioware.com/forums/viewtopic.html?topic=518353&forum=116&sp=0 Hope I was able to help! |
#9incantatorApr 11, 2008 21:30:20 | I don't believe your computer meets the minimum specifications:Minimum System Requirements: Your computer only has a 1.6 GHz Celeron (bargain quality) processor and a built in graphics card that lacks at least one of the required functions, like a shader or transform and lighting engine. I am in the same boat, so I know how badly it sucks, but those are the breaks. |
#10bleedingstarApr 21, 2008 18:11:17 | And I was looking forward to giving this game a go over the summer break. oooooo well |
#11sirtristansongsteelApr 24, 2008 19:01:44 | Hey, people! Read my post! There is a way! I play NWN2 regularly in my laptop with integrated video chipset! Well, not regularly, actually (I'm kind of a work-a-holic ;) ), but whenever I have the time to. Just read my post above and just tell me if it works for you. Cheers |
