I know there's a subforum for players asking to join an Online Campaign, but I thought I might have more luck here asking about any Dark Sun ones.

I'm a complete newbie to D&D.

John,
I run two and play in two others over at rpol.net
Other than the typical disappearing player/GM issue that seems to plague online RPing, I have had nothing but fun and very little difficulty over there.
Unfortunately, both my games are pretty full, otherwise I would just offer you a place.
Good luck in your search, and I hope this helps some!

Harsh,

Looked over your games on Rpol.net, should there be an opening (typical for online gaming) please post it to these forums as I am sure many would be interested.

Personally, I am thinking about starting an online game myself. Dark Sun 3.5 ala athas.org (btw- thank you folks for such quality work) with maybe a tweek or two to catch more of the Dark Sun flavor. I enjoy heavy rp with limited treasure in my DS games and can accomodate large groups of players along with multiple storylines without much trouble.

I've never run a DS game online before but have more than some experience with other settings including Alternity games... another good one for the history books.

The question is: any interest?

Maybe. When you say "on-line" do you mean forum-based, chat-based, VoIP-based or other?

Typically when I've done online games I prefer to run it forum based with occasional chat for quick resolution of roleplaying elements (like conversation). Combat typically goes relatively quickly as a post that begins a combat comes with an initiative count and character's without actions posted within 24 hours (variable for different groups) have their actions decided by the GM.

PBeM between a GM and a player provides for fairly realistic gaming when a player 'goes solo' or gets split off from the main group for a bit.

Also, I'm a huge fan of character trees. =) This may or may not speak to the lethality of Athas as I have come to understand it. I've always found Athas to be fairly Gamma-world-ish.

Ok. Thanks for the answer, but in that case I'll have to decline as I have much more than a slight dislike of forum-based gaming. Thanks for your time, though!
