I just got an idea for my campaign and I wanted to share here, so you can use it.

My campaign is four year old and sometime, I change a lot of cannon thing just to shake the story a little.

The last idea I had concern Kled, the dwarven village. All the character of my player's character tree went to Kled at some point in the game since 4 year. So they became deeply attached to that village.

Since there main aim is to work toward hunting The Dragon ( I dont use Prism Pentad), I want to show them the destructive power of the Dragon by destroying Kled.

That when I had my second idea; Kled is a big dwarven village and there focus is to raise Kamelok from the sand, an impossible task unless your an Athasian Dwarf that live 200 year old and focus on one thing. But when you fail your focus you turn Banshee.

That when I came to the conclusion that Kled can make an awesome haunted village, western style if your player have a prior knowledge of that village.

What do you think?

I like it! That is going to be the most messed up local in Athas. You could have a small number of dwarves that are close to the party to have secretly shifted to an alternative focus: To kill the dragon!

In our campaign there are old mineshafts that lead down (a long way) to Kemelok which is slam full of undead.

That actually, completely makes sense. I could just see an s-load of dwarven banshees, amongst other dwarven undead, runnin' loose down there.

You should read the definition again, as it doesn't exactly work this way. If you die while turning away from your focus, then yes, you become cursed. If on the other end your focus is unfilfilled when you die, but you where in full pursuit of it prior to your death, then you don't become undead.

Your totally wrong. C'est toi qui devrais lire la définition.

From Dark Sun Monstrous compendium Terror of the desert

Dwarves who die before completing a major focus are often
condemned to live out their afterlives as banshees. In unlife they
haunt their unfinished work or quest, unable to bear the fact
that someone else may complete what they could not. Day or
night, the pupils of their eyes flicker red as if a flame burns them
from within.

The idea of a banshee brings up a interesting question. How would a society deal with a banshee. If they are in the wilderness I can see leaving them alone, but what if they appear in a major city or in an inconvient spot? I think thta a society as old as Athas would come up with several solutions to the problem. I also think this would lead to more discrimination towards dwarves. They would be looked apon as a group who could potentially if nothing else bring down the value of your property, who wants to live next to a psychotic undead?

I remembered a consensus, or a clearing up of the focus-breaking process of undeath for dwarves. You just pointed out it's not in DSMC. It may be elsewhere, or quite simply on the email lists. Even without my vague recollections, a broken focus should not equate undeath...or else Athas would be overrun.

Not necessary. It's 5%/level, and most of the dwarf are just 3 lvl. So only the high level dwarf have a risk of turning banshee, because of there responsability (high level).

So cannon wise, i'm still right.

Yes, you are right, and I am wrong. It's all about rightness and wrongness.
