There's plenty of things to explore, fight, restore, loot, or otherwise interact with in Dominaria, Rath, Lorwyn, etc. An example of a campaign could begin with the PCs in Dominaria, join up with Gerrard and Co. on the Weatherlight to make a raid on Rath. Of course, the Weatherlight is so cool the PCs are going to want to hi-jack it or try to build one of their own. Unfortunately for them, the ship malfunctions and strands the heroes in a plane in the middle of an Ice Age and the PCs have to find a way to repair the ship or day trying. A slightly more friendly DM might drop the party in Lorwyn (where humans and hornless elves are unheard of). For those who might be looking for a production justification, here's a small sample of the books WotC could churn out: Magic: The Gathering Campaign Setting Focused primarily on Dominaria. Includes history, creatures, and points of interest in Dominaria as well as a brief overview of the other planes. Introduces setting-specific paragon paths and epic destinies as well as the Planeswalker base class. Planes-Specific Supplements Provides history, creatures, and points of interest about a specific plane. WotC can make one for each plane or cram several similar planes into a few giant books or break them down by "linked" expansions (i.e. Tempest, Stronghold, and Exodus). Book of Artifacts Pretty self-explanatory (nifty toys for N/PCs). Campaign Setting Monster Manuals These cold be grouped by plane (probably the best approach), theme or type (Goblins, Sliver, Merfolk, etc), card color, or some other method of classification. Again, nearly limitless amount of material. |
