#1 phoenixmcl May 21, 2008 14:43:13	How much would it cost to buy the Mystara Setting for. Not asking for the D&D name or rules; just want rights to the world and the names associated with. Just looking for a legal estimate?
#2 genghisuber May 21, 2008 20:15:36	I imagine you wouldn't buy it outright. I imagine you'd be able to license it for a fee. If you could buy the rights to the setting I'd be all over that. If you're serious about this, you'll probably want to contact WotC directly.

If you wanted to try to license/buy Mystara, you're going to want to come up with a legitimate business case for it. At the very least, you'll want a vision document that outlines what you'd like to do with the license, a business plan that explains how you plan to execute that vision, where and how you'll publish what you come up with, and maybe a list of game designers/developers who are willing to attach themselves to the project. Also, it would be a pretty sweet idea to outline how you plan to pay for it. I'm not in the publishing industry, I'm just a technical project manager. I'm trying to think about what it takes for someone in my company to make me take their plan seriously and what they could do to demonstrate that their project idea is credible.
