Name: Countess Elizabeth Bathory

Location: Catchice Castle, Slovakia

DOB: August 7, 1560 DOD: August 21, 1614

Accused of over 80 counts of torture and mutilation in December of 1610, but was never brought to trial. Stories circulated by people who weren't there put the number of victims at closer to 650. A century later, Jesuit priests started telling people that the 'Blood Countess of Catchice' bathed in the blood of virgins to remain youthful. (not true)

All this time, I thought Blizzard had made up a really cool boss fight. Turns out they just have a good research department.

It's was still a cool fight though in my opinon. The fact thats it's slight true makes it even more creepy.

Can't speak for Dutch, but I have trouble watching it any more. After the umpteenth time I saw them talking about how their EMF readings were off the charts while standing next to electrical conduits, or trying to take the temperature of a "cold spot" in the air with an IR thermometer that needs to reflect off a solid surface to get a meaningful reading, I couldn't stomach it anymore. It's an entertaining show but they need to learn to use their tools correctly.

Sorry for the digression. Countess Bathory also shows up in the Castlevania series. On another unrelated note, Gilles de Rais is another great scary evil guy to look up. The stuff he supposedly confessed to would make Bathory squeamish.

Never said I watched it Zamboni, just caught the commercial for it while watching Scifi. For the most part I agree with you.

That's actually what brought it up. I'm sitting here watching the program, saying to myself "Why does this story sound so familiar?" Then they called her the "Countess of Blood" and I geeked out.

Re: Giles de Rais. He would make an awesome BBEG.

I'm sorry, Phoenix_M, I totally didn't mean that as a dig at you.

I just sort of figured most people got the association when they read the Tomb in the Black Marsh. Or was it the Tamoe Highlands? I skip that quest usually since I never collect runes until later.
