Given that the assumed setting of the 4E books (I HATE calling it "the Points of Light" setting, as "points of light" is a meta-setting concept, not a setting name) is nameless and scantly defined, I'm not sure it would merit its own forum anyway. (Where did you get the term "Middle World," by the way?) For the time being, I'd suggest discussing it in the "Other Worlds (including 3rd Party)" forum. |

It has no proper name, but a wide variety of prosaic and poetic names exist among people who need to call it anything but "the world" or "here." It's known variously as the Creation, the Middle World, the natural world, the created world, or sometimes the First Work." Of those, "the Middle World" was the one that seems most practical, evocative, and fantastic for me to want to use myself. I'm pretty sure I've seen it once or twice since then, but not certain enough to remember where. Like you, it appealed to me more than "Points of Light" (although I did get a laugh from the poster who called it PoLand). So far, some really excellent discussions about the assumed setting have appeared (such as Bloodspawn's outstandingHistoria del Mundothread over in 4e General Discussion) that it seemed worth having a specific site where we could discuss, interpret and add to the world. |
