#1zephyrstormMar 30, 2009 17:26:16 | Hey folks... Now I'm coming back to Mystara after a good long lay off and forays into the realms and Eberron. There just seems to be a good 'coming home' feeling to this setting though, which has also rubbed off on my players. I'm interested in using artwork as playing aids, typically playing pictures through Windows Movie Maker and combining them with Toxic Bag's Fantasy soundtracks and music from Midnight Syndicate's D&D cd. All this to promote the atmosphere and bring the PCs into the game. I grew up with the red book Basic D&D set; my artist of choice to inform the Mystara setting has to be Elmore based on what I saw of his work at the time and the pictures I've seen in galleries since then. I see him and his work as being the definitive Mystaran artist, with the noted exception of Clyde Caldwell based on his gazzeteer work. I'm fond of both the painted pics and the line art appearing in these books. Does anyone know whether the line art drawings of the basic, expert, companion and master sets are in galleries anywhere online? Also which other artists would you think suitable for a Mystaran 'feel'? I know it's an ambiguous question, but I think of Parillo as being Eberron-influenced, Lockwood as Forgotten Realms and just, well, thought I'd throw this out there for anyone to see what could be suggested. Oh, and lastly I'd love to find a good portrait of Bargle, or a picture that could be used for him... Thanks...in anticipation... |
