#1Mist-BoundFeb 03, 2010 15:47:38 | I vaguely remember stumbling across a fansite for a 3rd party (I believe) post-apocalyptic setting using the D20 rules, and I'm trying to remember both what the setting itself was and the website I found. I know it sounds similar to Gamma World D20, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't that setting, as what I remember of the setting in question points to it as being even bleaker then the 6th edition of Gamma World. The biosphere had been destroyed by nuclear war; the world was getting hotter and drier every year, more and more of the plant and animal life (including humans) was being sterilized, civilisation had crumbled, raiders were everywhere, and life was pretty much in a handbasket on hell's doorstep. Two things that definately stick in my mind were that a character needed to use a Feat to be fertile (i.e; buy this feat, you can have kids, don't buy it, you're sterile and there's no legacy you can really leave this crumbling world) and a hostile "faction" was a band of psychotic raiders who believed something like humanity had had its day and it was time for it to finish dying - this particular faction, I recall, deliberately hunted down and killed children and fertile women, and I think it "recruited" mainly by capturing men and brutally torturing and homosexually raping them until their minds broke and they were just as bad as all the other psychotics. So, does this ring any bells for anyone? |

I've discovered that the setting in question is "Darwin's World", though I'm not sure what edition and I'm thinking the website I first used to stumble across it has been taken down. |
