Also, those of you that added a link to this board in your signature line, make sure you update it to point here, instead of the deadlands. ;) |
#2cwslyclghJun 17, 2003 15:53:30 | Don't worry... I don't think we will let it die ;) |
#3ElendurJun 17, 2003 16:07:47 | I still think the Greyhawk board should have a link directly from the D&D boards, not through 'Other Roleplaying Worlds'. This isn't some old, dead setting, its the DEFAULT for cripes sake! |
#4Brom_BlackforgeJun 17, 2003 16:21:19 | Originally posted by Elendur Not only that, but it's fifth down on the list! |
#5HalberkillJun 17, 2003 17:38:32 | What is the word from Wizards on the status of the Greyhawk campaign? Is it being slowly written out of the core books? It is rather confusing their half-in half-out way of doing things. Especially being that there are 2 Greyhawk multimedia projects coming down the pike. Halber |
#6ElendurJun 17, 2003 18:08:25 | Greyhawk is still the default setting in 3.5, but its clear WotC isn't going to publish anything for the setting. I guess they've given it over to the RPGA. I think Living Greyhawk is a great idea, but they are obviously not going to be publishing anything. And so it languishes. I'd like to see a campaign hardback like Forgotten Realms, with PrC's, races, magic items, spells, etc. I'd like to see another City of Greyhawk boxed set. I'd like to see modules. Are they even gonna print any modules anymore? At least they put all the old stuff out for download. |
#7zombiegleemaxJun 17, 2003 19:35:24 | Wizard's policy on Greyhawk is strange indeed. As a (relatively) new player, the 3rd Ed. books were the first time, I ever read about Greyhawk, so I expected the Greyhawk campaign setting to be the next thing on their "to-do" list. Seems, the next campaign settings to be produced were the Realms and Dragonlance. They'd better produce a real Greyhawk campaign setting fast, or change the default campaign setting. The current state is ridiculous. |
#8cwslyclghJun 17, 2003 22:10:51 | Not only that, but it's fifth down on the list! of course they are in alphabictal order ;) |
#9ElendurJun 17, 2003 22:53:14 | Just to keep this gripe going, if you are on the main D&D page, the link to "Other Roleplaying Worlds" has this to say: "Hop to the Other Worlds forums to talk Dragonlance, Plancescape, Dark Sun, Alternity, and other settings" Greyhawk isn't even mentioned in the blurb! It's lumped under "other settings". ALTERNITY gets more respect than Greyhawk. I generally hate conspiracy theories, but I'm beginning to think that WotC is trying to make Greyhawk dull on purpose, so people want to buy Forgotten Realms. |

#11Brom_BlackforgeJun 18, 2003 8:10:23 | Originally posted by cwslyclgh Except that they put Dragonlance at the top of the list - before Birthright, out of alphabetical order. Seems like if you're going to put a setting at the top of the list, it ought to be your default setting . . . |
#12zombiegleemaxJun 18, 2003 10:26:00 | Hey, it's not all bad. At least we have a moderator now. |
#13jonesyJun 18, 2003 11:11:04 | Originally posted by Namo Well Realms is the most popular setting, and with Dragonlance they have the help of MW's Sovereign Press. I do agree however that an up to date Greyhawk setting would be cool. |
#14zombiegleemaxJun 18, 2003 18:05:04 | Good thing everyone here is in agreement! I also do not understand wotc's logic here. If it was default why wasn't it printed first. Sorry to bring up conspiricy theories again but have you noticed that they also are effectivly alienating the verteran gamers by cancelling some of the other settings. And really some of these new rules cater more toward uber killers wanting quake with dice..... Can anyone start a petition or something to get them off their duffs? |
#15jonesyJun 19, 2003 2:56:13 | And really some of these new rules cater more toward uber killers wanting quake with dice..... The new Dragonlance setting is actually going in the opposite direction with the emphasis on roleplaying and not rollplaying. I wonder if Sovereign might be interested in publishing new Greyhawk material after their DL operation gets air under it's wings. |

#17knightfallJun 22, 2003 23:26:54 | Checking my sig to make sure it now works on the new boards. Nuts! It doesn't. Oh well time to redo it from scratch. |
