#2endowhinJun 18, 2003 18:58:10 | Well, I tried to get it today. Went to a Best Buy, Comp USA and Blockbuster to no avail. -Endowhin |
#3zombiegleemaxJun 18, 2003 21:24:56 | Me to, founded it by accident at a Fry's Electronics, but they may only be a west coast thing. I do know that Amazon.com has it. The Wotc stores out here hadn't even heard of it. Best of luck! If anyone else knows where you can get it. please post for those that can't find it |

BTW Fry's had it listed as anime if that helps you find it. |
#5ranger_regJun 19, 2003 3:54:58 | Is it out already? I got the demo DVD, courtesy of Dragon #309, and I like it. So is it out already? I wanna know so I can get it. |
#6zombiegleemaxJun 19, 2003 4:36:23 | full version was out on the 10th or so the ads say. Yes it is currently out but it is hard to find |
#7ranger_regJun 19, 2003 14:32:37 | What ads? |
#8zombiegleemaxJun 19, 2003 21:09:22 | They have been running ads in DC comics. Isaw one in the latest issue of "Nightwing" I think. |
#9AlzriusJun 19, 2003 21:17:26 | I'm just waiting to buy the special edition this fall. It has 15 minutes more footage, two additional endings, a "making of" sequence, and a figure of either Mialee or Lidda (can't recall which). |
#10zombiegleemaxJun 20, 2003 2:39:08 | Figured that one the other version comes out. Iwill give this one away as a gife to some one. Maybe my niece Sure that I can find it a good home |
#11endowhinJun 20, 2003 23:05:16 | Found it today at Saturday Matinee. A bit pricy at $26.99 but it's cool. I've gone through it twice and still I'd have to say the bad guys win out. -Endowhin |
#12zombiegleemaxJun 22, 2003 21:24:24 | Originally posted by endowhin There's a total of four endings. two "good", two....well...not so good. I'd say the fourth "Good" ending is the toughest to get to. If you're having trouble getting to the fourth ending, I have a couple of hints that could make it easier. -Qual |
#13endowhinJun 22, 2003 23:02:44 | Thanks, I may just ask for those but not yet. I still want to experiment a bit. -Endowhin |
#14zombiegleemaxJun 23, 2003 0:15:53 | Just so you all know....the "skip" button DOES work. So when you're tired of watching the Earth Elemental for the umpteeth time....*SKIP* and you're onto the next decision point. -Qual |
#15laegolasgreenleafJun 23, 2003 20:35:36 | The figurine with the special edition is Mialee, so says the official web site. It is very cool. That goes on my "Gotta get" list. |
#16endowhinJun 25, 2003 2:36:13 | Played it again today and got a third ending in which we win. Some pretty cool stuff in this DVD. I like it a lot! -Endowhin |
#17zombiegleemaxJun 25, 2003 13:37:24 | I had noticed an ad for this in a magazine (I think it was Dragon) a while back and then with the last issue I got the demo. After finding out this product was already released I promptly went looking for it online (knowing that this small town I'm currently in wouldn't have it.) I finally found it on www.barnesandnoble.com and it was a little pricey with shipping and all but I did get it. As soon as I got it I called a few members of my gaming group and we gathered around ye olde television and played through it. We managed to get 3 endings. I can't for the life of me figure out how to get the 4th ending! Someone that posted up above mentioned that they knew how, well, if you could please email me and tell me I would be very greatful, as I really want to see it! I definitely recommend that you pick this title up. It is great! It truly is! You won't regret it. Oh yea and I am without a doubt gonna get the special edition copy, although I do wish it came with a Lidda figure personally ;) (see my signature below lol) Please email me at technoelement2020@yahoo.com if you know how to get the 4th good ending or hey if you just wanna talk to me about DnD or Greyhawk or whatever that is my yahoo name as well so..... |
#18zombiegleemaxJun 27, 2003 13:20:02 | I hadn't heard about this until I saw it in some stores this week (notably Sam Goody's and Borders). I liked it and hope they do more. Although no offense to Greyhawk I hope they do a Realms one sometime too. ;) |
#19grimbastJun 30, 2003 15:54:05 | This game is great! My kids and I have played 5 or 6 times already. I think I've reached three of the the four endings. One good one, one bad and one more bad than good. E-mail me at mncjacob@aol.com if you want to discuss. I haven't been able to reach one set of choices again and I think that leads to the fourth ending. After finding out about the game from this board, I ordered mine from Amazon. I typed in "scourge of worlds" on MSN's search engine, trying to find info about the special edition. You can find quite a few on-line stores that sell this for $20 more or less. I didn't find the special ed info, though. Could someone post a link to this info? I finally tracked down a copy of Dragon #309 for the demo disk. I'm loaning the demo disk out to friends in the hope that they will go out and buy Scourge of Worlds. It would be nice if WotC would publish more products like this. |
#20zombiegleemaxJul 02, 2003 11:22:49 | Hey there. They have updated the Scourge of Worlds website. Mostly the same info, but they do have a link on where to buy the DVD, as well as some Wallpapers to download. Hey Endowhin, where you ever able to get the fourth ending? -Qual |
#21ranger_regJul 04, 2003 5:16:53 | Tower Record/Video should have their stock of the SoW. More importantly, they got a 4-day weekend sale starting now, where regularly-priced DVDs ($15 or higher) are 25% off. They're selling SoW at $19.95, so I got it for less than $15. |
#22araelethe_dupJul 10, 2003 11:27:22 | I've screened the demo Scourge of Worlds DVD in Dragon #309 and I must say, I look forward to the full disc. Similar, of course, to the "Choose Your Adventure" texts of the 1980s. Now, I'll be digging through the used book stores for those texts, too! |
#23zombiegleemaxJul 10, 2003 15:16:04 | My fiance and I borrowed it from a friend, and I say I'm willing to get our own copy as soon as we get some cash to do so. We found all four endings in the same night, and were highly entertained by the result Wizards put into it. I pretty much have nothing bad to say about it. It also helps that I'm a CYOA freak. Pros 1) The computer art is of excellent quality. 2) A 3 PC party was pulled off effectively. In fact, I was surprised that only Mialee, Regdar, and Lidda (yay!) were in a party, in a world where we are all born and bred for 4-6 PC parties. 3) It's refreshing to not have a cleric in the party - in fact, to work AGAINST a cleric of happy light and flowers and stuff. :p 4) The mysterious druids were entertaining (especially when you have the option to fight a pack of 6 druids. Insane!), and lent an exotic air. 5) Whether or not you find replay value, SoW is a nice source for campaign ideas (and to GM art assistants, a good source of art ideas) 6) The evil cleric (who we stereotyped as a blackguard) is pretty cool. 7) A LN character (Regdar) with personality is refreshing (I've seen too many boring LN's.) 8) Lidda rocks! Con 1) Free will is limited, but then again, it's a CYOA, AND an experiment. All in all, this DVD has fulfilled its purpose. It was *not* meant to be anything more than an enjoyable CYOA, and it works well when played at parties. It's good for taking the place of a gaming session, in the event you conveniently "forget" to design an adventure. Rock on, Wizards. Can't wait for the next installment. |
#24ranger_regJul 11, 2003 2:50:42 | Well, it's not Wizards who put the DVDn together, it's DKP. Wizards just give them the greenlight to use the iconic characters and Greyhawk elements. Hey, you gotta give them credit where credit is due. In any case, I finally found the fourth and last ending, and now I want to know if they'll put a new one out (a completely new interactive adventure) by the end of this year ... and I'm not talking about the deluxe version to the current one. |
#25zombiegleemaxJul 11, 2003 19:54:51 | Originally posted by Ranger REG Hey there. While searching for info about Scourge of Worlds, I came across this article. At the bottom it mentions "Though Bono would not comment on Rhino's future DVD plans, DKP says that an interactive ''Scourge of Worlds'' sequel is being planned." So there is hope, but no mention of a release date. With the special edition due out in September, I doubt it would be this year. As for the special edition, I read somewhere (can't seem to find it now) there are two new endings (a new Good and a new Bad ending) along with some extra animations showcasing the environments and includes some concept art of the characters. -Qual |
#26zombiegleemaxJul 12, 2003 1:18:32 | need the last ending the one where the cleric lives. help!!! |
#27ranger_regJul 12, 2003 3:36:13 | EN World messageboard have the spoiler hint for the fourth ending. http://enworld.cyberstreet.com |
#28zombiegleemaxJul 14, 2003 1:01:48 | im not about to pay 35.00 to search their site for one spoiler and im not going to scroll through hundreds of pages of crap. someone help seriously. |
#29zombiegleemaxJul 14, 2003 13:16:30 | You poor things. Since everyone seems to be having so much trouble, I will be adding a walkthrough to the game soon. I'll post again when it's done. |
#30trazztJul 15, 2003 17:40:09 | So, does anyone know if this dvd will be/is released in europe (read: region 2)? Im really curious about this thing but i cant seem to find this dvd for sale anywhere in the netherlands, nor can i find a region 2 version on the web. |

#33endowhinJul 17, 2003 23:09:38 | I found the fourth ending the next day after getting the third. I tried to limit myself to playing it only once or twice a day so as to prolong the fun. Watching it while I let my friend make the decisions was a blast. There has to be a follow-up due to the way the thing ends. /begin rant I'm a bit peeved about a special edition since this one cost a bit. We should be able to mail in a proof of purchase for a rebate or something. /end rant -Endowhin |
#34zombiegleemaxJul 19, 2003 21:42:27 | Scourge of Worlds Is awsome. For someone who doesn't get to sit a play as much as he may like it was so much fun. Of course the fact it is Greyhawk based makes it so much better. Can't wait till the special ed. Hope they make more. |
#35ricksummonJul 19, 2003 22:35:18 | So, does anyone have a list of all the spells cast in Scourge of Worlds along with the verbal components? Here's what I remember off the top of my head: Magic Missile = "Orbis Velocitar" Dispel Magic = "Minus Haileth Nomen" Sleep = "Dormus Momentus" Light = "Lux Lucis" Summon Nature's Ally VI (for the Large earth elementals) Wall of Thorns Unknown escape spell cast by Ariadne = "Minus Aqua Inferme" |
#36ranger_regJul 20, 2003 3:52:20 | Originally posted by endowhin How much did you get yours for? I got mine for $15 at Tower Records on sale * blows raspberry * :P P.S. I don't mean to be finicky, but I'm hoping they added closed-captions for the hearing-impaired, unless you all have some kind of objection of having hearing-impaired gamers, eh? |
#37grimbastJul 20, 2003 7:43:11 | What kind of dragon was that? It doesn't look like one of the chromatics. Is it some kind of fiendish or abyssal? or is it just the **** *******? |
#38zombiegleemaxJul 21, 2003 14:48:06 | Originally posted by RickSummon Okay, I don't know if this classifies as a spoiler, but I'll put a spoiler warning just in case: *******SPOILER***************** Without going into verbal components, here are the spells that I know of: Cure Light Wounds (In the temple, outside Darkhaven, later on as well) Divine Power (Barthion's buff spell) Magic Missile (Numerous times) Shield (Fighting the elemental) Summon Nature's Ally IV (Druid summoning elemental) Charm Person (In the tavern) Detect Magic (In the tavern) Sleep (Tavern) Glitter Dust (getting away from druids) Entangle (If you give Barathion over to druids) Flame Strike (giving Barathion over) Circle of Doom (In the temple, or outside the fortress) True Strike (In the Temple) Fireball (Against orcs) Stone Shape (In the waystation) Searing Light (At the waystation, a later as well) Sound Burst (In the key chamber, and in one of the endings) Dispel Magic (Key chamber, Tavern, and in front of vault) Inflict Serious Wounds (a Keychamber bad ending) Unholy Blight (Keychamber and later in one of the endings) Shatter (Keychamber) Anti-Magic Field (from scroll) Forbiddance (Blocks way into vault) Light (Barathion casts it on his mace) Wall of Thorns (In the vault) Invisibility (One of the endings) Meld Into Stone (In the keychamber) That's all that I can find anyways. -Qual |

#42ArgonAug 07, 2003 20:50:33 | I'm afraid I must add myself to the list of people who have bought this product. While in my own personal opinion the dvd could have been better. I do believe that the franchise would have done better to release a version of this dvd in the movies instead of the ridiculous Dungeons & Dragons movie. With that said I enjoyed the product. I'm sure that future product releases if any would be improved upon. Overall I found the DVD entertaining and the plus side is the number of different scenarios the movie can take. Both adults and children find the interaction to be a positive in the entertainment factor. The movie also refrains from making the mistake of placateing to a child only audience. For it's replay ability and entertainment value alone I would give Scourge of Worlds 3.5 stars out of a possible 5. |
#43Brom_BlackforgeOct 10, 2003 16:50:11 | Hey, does anybody know what the deal is with the deluxe edition? I've asked at Best Buy and Barnes & Noble, and they only had the original release listed. Has anyone seen it? Bought it? I finally gave up and just bought the original version, but if there's still something good coming, I might make a gift of the one that I just got. . . . |
#44Brom_BlackforgeOct 10, 2003 16:55:04 | By the way, I've got to say that I liked it, especially some of the interactions between Regdar, Lidda and Mialee. (Anyone else see the part in the desert, where Regdar asks, "Hot enough for you, girls?" Did you catch what Lidda called him? I think I actually laughed out loud at that part.) One thing I thought needed a little more attention, though, was after the druid got done saying they needed to hurry, we see everyone walking - slowly. So much for hurrying. But yes, I liked it quite a bit. If they make another live action movie (and I think I heard that they are), they should follow the lead of this DVD and use the iconic characters from the core rulebooks. Oh, yeah, and they should set it in Greyhawk! |
#45zombiegleemaxOct 15, 2003 22:35:05 | I got this DVD the day it was released, and yes I enjoyed it very much! As for a Deluxe Edition, just hit the website, and nothing there mentioned about it. You might trying to visit the site and email them. Site linked in earlier post to this thread. As for the desert scene, yes, I like Mialee's sense of humor. I would like to see the next DVD set entirely inside the Free City of Greyhawk, rendered to the maps in the City of Greyhawk boxset! Now that would be truly something to see! And talk about plots, there are hundreds that could be had in that one city! |
#46ghentOct 15, 2003 23:26:16 | So does the artifact they are searching for have any previous references to greyhawk canon or was it created just for the game? I have seen part of the demo, and it looks pretty cool other than being extremely dark where I had to turn my brightness all the way up to see the scenes better. J |
#47zombiegleemaxOct 19, 2003 14:34:35 | I do not recall the "Artifact" being in any other GH material, although I may be wrong. It was new material to me. |
#48zombiegleemaxOct 21, 2003 10:13:05 | Hey there. The warring factions of the Baklunish and the Seloise (sp?) are part of the history of Greyhawk, (found in the Living Greyhawk Gazetteer), but I'm sure that the "Artifact" was an original creation. The last I heard, the Special Edition is due out in Spring 2004, and includes two new endings (for a total of 6), a "making of" documentary, character concept art and environment flythroughs. And of course the Mialee mini. Oh, and Dartagne: a City of Greyhawk adventure would be really cool. Rooftops, Sewers, Temples and Noble houses...I can just see it. -Qual |
#49ghentOct 21, 2003 10:27:23 | All I know is I saw the demo that the cleric of Pholtus is searching for some kind of artifact to purify evil to good. I figured it was something for worse, but I havent got the full version. So it has something to do with the Twin Cataclysms? Im familiar with the Sueloise and Baklunish war, but didnt know this artifact was part of it supposedly. Should be interesting to see the full thing one day. J |
#50zombiegleemaxOct 21, 2003 10:59:50 | Grrr. I never know when posting info from the movie is a spoiler or not. So here it is, the obligatory spoiler warning: *******SPOILER WARNING********** The Artifact is a weapon that was created by the Sueloise in their fight against the Baklunish. Unfortunatly, the Twin Caraclysms were unleashed before they had mastered it, and the artifact has layed burried for 500+ years. Oh well, not much of a spoiler really. Don't want to give too much away -Qual |
#51zombiegleemaxOct 21, 2003 11:49:10 | Quall: I hope the Devs of Scourge of Worlds think it's just as cool to see the Free City in all it's glory! |
#52zombiegleemaxOct 31, 2003 12:45:54 | Any word on when the collectors edition will be available? I was going to buy for my son for Christmas. Wait or get the first edition Now? |
#53HalberkillNov 03, 2003 12:42:13 | I heard it's not going to be released until next year. Halber |
#54zombiegleemaxJan 16, 2004 14:39:46 | I finally just around to cracking the seal on the copy I got for Christmas, played it through once, and I have mixed feelings about it. I found the CGI on the backgrounds to be excellent, as well as the Beholder, but the character movements and especially the wolves during the temple attack scene were very poor. I also found some of the dialouge between the characters to be just plain silly. That said, I was pleasantly surprised at the amount that Greyhawk locations and history were actually used. It went beyond just saying "we are in Greyhawk" and leaving it at that. The story itself was actually pretty good too, which also surprised me somewhat. Just my two cents. |
