I don't really understand what's the true nature of the Baazrag.

Is it a hairy biped or a small lizardlike creature???

I assume the Biped version comes from source material and novels and contradicts the Monstrous complement?

Is that it?

It's the former according to the WJ and PP novels, so we went with that version. The latter will still be represented but called a boneclaw.

Heh... Weird that they got mixed up like that...

It's like the remake of the look of the Mekillot! Man! Is that the same beast??? Even the rest... The Inix looks like it's got an armor upgrade or two! ;)

I went with the second look for the Mekillot though. More flashy, for one thing, but the main argument is that a drik looks a lot like the old mekillot anyways, and serves in similar fashions. So the two looks exist.

That's DS contradictions for you. Plenty more were that came from.

Heh, its those very contradictions that make me not want to develope various 'existing' regions of Athas. I sure as heck don't want to be the one to have to sort it all out

I seem to remember Troy Denning saying somewhere that he intended the Baazraag as an intelligent race, and had no idea where the lizardlike creature came from.

I first saw the little baazrag in a Dragon magazine with athasian monsters and seem to recall reading something about it being intended as a joke. I think the original picture has somebody walking it on a leash or something equally silly...

Are you sure you're not mixing up Braxat and Baazrag?
Braxat is the biped weirdo, while baazrag is a lame dog-like lizard.

Incorrect. The baazrag had two incarnations of itself. One in the PP which was a hunched, upright walking humanoid that faintly resembles a wookie. The other was a dog-like creature featured in DSMM2 Terrors of Athas.

Both will make it into ToA, however the dog-like one will be called a boneclaw instead, since that was it's second name.

The Braxat is a huge, armored humanoid with a nasty, acidic breath weapon and a bad attitude.

Alrighty, didn't recall the Baazrag from the PP.

It's in the begining of The Verdant Passage, the begining scene with the slaves working on the ziggurat and all that.
