#1zombiegleemaxJun 19, 2003 14:35:50 | I am an avid Forgotten Realms and Dragonlance player and DM (occaisionally). I have just recently gotten into Greyhawk, but given my location, books and source info is hard to come by. I have purchased "Greyhawk Gazetter" to try to learn about the world and to help me plan a campaign. My problem is that the booklet is so vauge (it even states that they give you the minimal amount of info so you can fill in the detail yourself), I am kind of stuck without some key information. Can anyone give me some details on some of the key groups in Greyhawk like any thieves guilds, assassin guilds, the scarlet brotherhood, key players in the major cities, or any custom NPC or ideas any of you have come up with for the Greyhawk setting? Thanks so much! |

I had some previous experience with Greyhawk as a player, but that just made it more frustrating, because I remembered bits and pieces that made me aware of how big the gaps were in the "Gazetteer." The larger work, the "Living Greyhawk Gazetteer," is better, but it has gaps too. I've been trying to track down information, too, so let me give you a few suggestions. First, there are innumerable websites you could check out. If you're looking for info on the City of Greyhawk, you might want to check out Denis Tetrault's website: http://www.timebomb.on.ca/denist/greyhawk He helped create a map of the city that appeared in Living Greyhawk Journal #2, and that map is on the website. If you're going to send your PCs to Greyhawk, it's nice to know what the place looks like. There are other sites, too, and maybe other people can suggest their favorites. Or get on your favorite search engine and punch in "Greyhawk" -- there are a bunch of sites out there that will come up. Second, you might want to try to get your hands on some of the old stuff. You can try eBay or your local gaming shop. Also, I once complained to WotC customer service about the lack of Greyhawk materials, and got a response directing me to the "officially licensed online store SVGames at www.svgames.com." You can download electronic versions of lots of old things there for a nominal price. (I prefer to have the real thing, so I didn't try it, but I wanted to pass it on.) |

I would recommend starting with the links section of Canonfire! at http://www.canonfire.com/htmlnew/modules.php?name=Web_Links and (if you're looking for some more biased selections), my own links page at http://www.rpg.net/ehp/imrryr/gh_links.html |
