I need a fairly good map of solace for my campaign. I already have the one of Palanthas from the WotC site and since Qualinost is a lake of death I only need Solace.

Could anyone point me to a good map?

Cheers

I found this link on the old board.

Yea, I got all the maps from that site allready. But thanx for the link, I had accidentaly erased it from my favourites list and couldn't find it again. I love the big map of Ansalon in multiple parts. Don't know if that big map is up to date with 5th age, but I figure it's close enough, so I use it.

But still no Solace. Being the big city that it is, I reckon someone must know a link to a map. I don't care if it's a poor map with low details, I can always make another one based on that. I just need the general layout of the city.

Well, if you send me your e-mail address. I could probably scan a map of Solace into my computer and e-mail it to you, if no one knows a link to one on the internet anywhere.

Hmm... I didn't actually see if there was a map of solace there. :embarrass

Btw, Archaeon, that 8-part map of Ansalon is for the 4A. It came with the Tales of the Lance campaign setting.

The only maps of Solace that I know of are present on the back of that Ansalon map that comes with Tales of the Lance boxed set and in The Atlas of the Dragonlance World.

Actually...I didn't even know there was a map of Solace on the back of....

Nevermind...I remember now...it's sort of painted, isn't it? Not your typical looking D&D map (aside from the fact that it's painted on a hex-grid), yes?

Correct. Not a terribly accurate map but good for giving new players a familiar base to recover from adventures.

I think my mail is in my profile, but just for good measure you can find me at

Inphobia m@il

If you scan me that map and mail it, I might be able to construct something more detailed from it if it's just a painted version.

Well the version in the Atlas is much more detailed. And I think there's one in the 5th Age Boxed set too (in the adventure...maybe not though).

Anyway...I'll check tonight.

Could someone PLEASE post me the map too. I need it very soon. Thank you very very very much!! My email is: john@cc.joensuu.fi

Also if someone could tell me some good books about Dragonlance and mainly Ansalon, and even more specifically about the places around Solace, please post the information here.

The problem is that I'm starting to DM in Ansalon (play starts from Solace) and my players know more about Dragonlance than I do. So I'm ready to buy some accessory books if those are available. I already have the Dragonlance Campaign Setting but I need more.

Thanks!

The problem with looking for geographical or geopolitical information on Krynn from the novels is that the world of Dragonlance is vastly different depending on the Age you need the information for.

Regardless, the core books (and the Ages they cover) are, in recommended reading order:
The Chronicles (4th Age: War of the Lance)
The Legends (4th Age, late 3rd Age, early 4th Age, 4th Age: The Blue Lady's War)
The Second Generation (late 4th Age, preludes to Summer Flame)
The Dragons of Summer Flame (late 4th Age: The Chaos War)
The Dragons of a New Age (early 5th Age)
The War of Souls (5th Age: War of Souls)
All of the published Dragonlance novels take place in or near Ansalon (sadly nothing about Taladas yet). All core books have snippets in Solace.

Additionally a good book about the Solace region is The Soulforge which (along with its sequel Brothers in Arms) is a very good book in it's own right.

Great! Thanks!

The problem is that I know nothing about the Dragonlance world at the moment, so I think I will choose the most recent history and will use that... So I will make my adventures in "modern day" Dragonlance. Until I get to read the books...

Thanks.

That's pretty much the wisest thing to do if your players know everything about the world while you know little. That way they don't get to complain as much. ;)

Well, this thread is over a year old, but if anyone's still interested, check out this link: http://www.dragonlance.olmer.ru/maps/solace.jpg. I, too, was looking for a map of Solace, and while googling for it, I found this thread, and then later, the above link... so maybe someone will find it useful!

Need a map of Solace, eh?

There is a map in the Dragonlance Campaign Setting, a 4th Age version in War of the Lance, and a brand-new version in the upcoming Tasslehoff's Map Pouch product.

As a teaser, the new map by Sean Macdonald is reeeeeeally pretty, with the trees in autumn colors instead of the green on the other maps.

We are getting pretty close to March, Jamie. Is this product going to have an on-line preview like the others? (I wasn't sure given that it's a different kind of product...and smaller)

As soon as we have approval to release the previews, I have two maps from the set I'd like to show off!
