#1GrummoreJul 05, 2003 7:19:23 | Does anybody known? http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3135389764&category=44112 |
#2DragonhelmJul 05, 2003 8:01:26 | I want to say that the conspectus is a fold-out poster, giving an idea of the world as well as some characters and products. They did one for Dragonlance as well, and I think one for Planescape. I'm pretty sure that's what this is, although not 100% certain. If it is, then it isn't worth $23, IMO. BTW, what sort of crack is the seller in this auction smoking? That description is...not professional. |
#3nytcrawlrJul 05, 2003 11:27:29 | Whatever it is, he needs to share dammit. |
#4heretic_apostateJul 05, 2003 11:31:16 | I've bought from Guido, he's a good seller. Strange description, but that's his standard description for everything. He never describes the contents of what he's selling, just gives the title and the description. |
#5overelementalJul 06, 2003 15:39:50 | Dragonhelm is correct, it's a fold-out map with some text. Was released at the same time as the second edition boxed set me thinks. I've got it, but can't remember paying for it, so I assume it came free with something.. but I really can't remember exactly. Maybe I should go dig through my dark sun stuff and find out... Maybe the guys at the gamestore gave it to me cause I spent all my cash there :D |
#6nightdruidJul 06, 2003 20:47:35 | Dang...you can get $23 bucks for that freebie map??? Wow...I think I got like 2 or something. Anyways, what is being sold is a poster map. It has some text on part of the back, a product cataloge IIRC, and a really crappy map of Athas on one side. The "overview" map is too small to make out any details, with inserts of smaller maps "detailing" certain areas such as the Tyr cities. The overview map is probably from the 2nd box, I think (runs from those black obsedian lands north to the Last Sea). One of those things that's worth maybe a buck for a laugh, but that's it. |
#7zombiegleemaxJul 06, 2003 23:01:14 | Its just an introductory promo for Dark Sun; there was one for Planescape as well (and probably FR and GH, but don't remember). They came with a few Dragon mags (likely issues 210 to 240 or somewhere in there) and are about as useful as cardboard toilet paper. Worth $23? I'm an obsessive compulsive collector and even I threw them out during spring cleaning. There's no new insights, information, or anything. I believe it amounted to a 6 page fold out just to give someone the barest overview of the setting and product releases. |
#8jon_oracle_of_athasJul 07, 2003 17:02:02 | Mach is probably correct. I have something that fits that description, and it came with an issue of Dragon. Now, if I could find out which rat bastard ran off with my DS cloth map, the witch hunt would be on. |
#9nytcrawlrJul 07, 2003 17:44:31 | I need to get a replacement for my cloth map, it's falling apart...slowly. |
#10zombiegleemaxJul 08, 2003 7:32:44 | I could actually use a replacement for the original map because you can actually mark on the map where the heck your players are wandering. |
#11GrummoreJul 08, 2003 9:59:09 | Yeah, lost my cloth map as well. Someone surely as it, but WHO ? Btw, instead of getting another map, scan a part of it and draw whatever you wish on it :D |
#12zombiegleemaxJul 08, 2003 10:37:14 | Well there is the option of photocopying for personal use, and scanning for personal use. Unfortunately, I don't have access to a scanner. I suppose I could photocopy it as necessary. |
#13zombiegleemaxJul 08, 2003 11:05:28 | Just get it lamenated. You may be looking at 10 bucks per 4 page map sqaures so you may have to (ACK!) cut your map down to size. Then, your map stays pretty and you can scibble all you want (with non permanent markers of course). Scanning it works as well since then you can tinker with it graphically, but printing a few pages worth of maps can wipe out an ink cartridge pretty quickly and at 20-40 bucks per cartridge, it gets to be a bit much. |
