#1GrummoreJul 09, 2003 9:11:57 | Not to say that it's what I will be working on, but I was wondering if all you, DS lovers, would put your wish list on what COULD be done next. Not necesserely by athas.org team, but by the community. Let's say the wish list for grummore would be: (or just maybe ideas on what would be cool to create!) 1- [General accessory] The Ruins of Athas 2- [Adventure/Detailed accessory] The ruins of X (X could be the Mud palace or else) 3- [DS2 product] A ds3e product where all NPCs in all DS product would be converted. 4- [DS2 product] VotW Villages of the Waste in 3ed. 5- [General accessory] Small adventures or adventures plots. Each about two or 3 pages maximum. 6- [Accessories] Athasian Maps. Regionals maps, building maps and dongeons maps (athasian of course). 7- [General accessory] The Crimson savannah 8- [Campaign] The Thri-Kreen invasion 9- [Campaign] Dregoth ascending 10- [Of course] Everything concerning the core rules and the monsters of athas could be put at first rank, but was too lasy to put it back there :D [EDIT] ARGL !!! forgot to say something I would really like to have ( will probably try to make it by myself but hehehe time time time...) An accessory on the silt skimmers and the silt sea |
#2zombiegleemaxJul 09, 2003 9:31:29 | 1) Maps of all the cities currently without maps. A campaign setting with 7 (initial) major cities, and only one map really boggles my mind. Yes I know that eventually Gulg, Nibenay, and Ur Draxa (not an initial 7) were given maps. But why not Raam, Balic, Draj, and especially Urik? Anyway, I don't know why it wasn't included to begin with, and adding maps of those cities would be great. 2) Maps of Kurn and Eldaarich (sic). See above :D 3) Converting the 2nd edition monsters to 3rd edition 4) Converting the 2nd edition adventures to 3rd edition 5) Maps of the major cities :D 6) Guide to the deadlands 7) Dregoth's ascention 8) Guide to the ruins of the tablelands 9) A Kreen empire guide 10) I don't know if I've mentioned this yet, but maps to the major cities would be good since they weren't included with the campaign material. |
#3zombiegleemaxJul 09, 2003 10:43:33 | Fluff, fluff, and more fluff! Guide books for races. Complete books of Athasian classes. Development of the undeveloped city-states. More Monsters! Kreen Empire detailed. Conversion of Windriders (specifically, lifeshaping) Traversing the Sands expanded on and made into a whole book, fitting in with Grum's expansion on the Sea of Silt ;) A non comical version of Saragar (if its possible). Ahh, just kill off the dolphin loving surfboard riding druids and all is well that ends well. Details of the Order. Expanding the Black. Guide for the Green and Blue Age. Expanding specific monsters aka Slayers Guides or Complete book of X monster. Lastly, a book called The Idiots to Giant Space Hamster Riding Laser Pistol Wielding Killer Halflings From Outer Space or How to Ruin Everything You Ever Loved About Athas But Were Afraid to Try. |
#4nytcrawlrJul 09, 2003 12:49:21 | Originally posted by Grummore This is one of my next projects after ToA whether it gets approved or not, just means it may be official or unofficial. 2- [Adventure/Detailed accessory] The ruins of X (X could be the Mud palace or else) This will probably be part of 1. 4- [DS2 product] VotW Villages of the Waste in 3ed. I've been requesting this, the problem is it was done by multiple people, most of which we have lost contact with. The easiest thing to do is just to redo it completely. 8- [Campaign] The Thri-Kreen invasion They'll be coming, don't worry. ;) I also plan on an accessory for Villichi, which is my next project, though I wouldn't mind doing one for all the races. Whether these will be officiaal or not is up in the air. Also planning on a few adventures as well. I would like to see the cities detailed more, which is going to happen. I would also like to see either one doc filled to the brim with more feats and PrCs, or class books done for Athas the way they were done for normal D&D. At some point once most of the major stuff is taken care of and that which has already been defined is defined more, I would like to expand on the world some. Oh and I would love to get ahold of the original author and redo the adventure detailing the return of Sielba, the SQ of Yaramuke, into 3e. |
#5heretic_apostateJul 09, 2003 21:55:53 | Originally posted by Quarion Can't be done, at least in the way I assume you mean. The ONLY thing you can do is do a DIRECT conversion, and you can't include any of the fluff text. I don't think you can even use monsters UNLESS they're in the OGL. (For general conversions, favorites such as illithid and beholders aren't in the OGL, so that rules out many non-DS conversions.) How many DS monsters are in the OGL, eh? Also, you're not allowed to alter the basics of the encounters. If the adventure is for characters levelled 7 - 11, and the encounter calls for 20 nightmare beasts, you've got to give 'em 20 nightmare beasts. Forget trying to scale the encounters to reasonable levels. The conversion policy is so strict that there are few conversions out there. All the conversions done, under the PREVIOUS policy, had to be removed from the public domain. Admittedly, there were abuses (such as people listing the entire text of adventures), but still... |
#6zombiegleemaxJul 10, 2003 7:46:02 | Huh... I guess I've been away from the game for a little too long. I thought that if you just converted the stats to 3rd edition, then everything would be hunky-dorie. I suppose if they changed the rules, though that would make it different. |
#7zombiegleemaxJul 10, 2003 10:36:54 | That's just it though, you can convert only stats and nothing else. No alterations beyond the actual stat blocks for monsters, npcs, traps, treasure, etc. |
#8zombiegleemaxJul 22, 2003 8:55:34 | I would love to see a supplement on the Ringing mountains, detailing them more as well as a supplement on the Halflings living within them. Just my thought, but halflings have been left out of DS, although they are the founders of the world. And they're just so cool to play with |
#9star_gazer_02Jul 22, 2003 9:42:30 | I would like to see just a few things: Magic Items and Magic Item Tables. Random Monster Encounter Tables. A book of PrCs, Spells, Feats, Powers and misc. rules stuff. |
#10zombiegleemaxJul 22, 2003 9:58:20 | How about a background book that gives the info on the history of Athas. Who's who of champions, Cleansing wars info, Sorcerer King Stats etc... I know the info is out there but it is scattered all over the place and one source that gives all the available info would be nice. |
#11zombiegleemaxJul 22, 2003 12:55:38 | ...the merry bandit states and the troll grave chasm in the middle. I thought about putting an arch druid there waiting to lead the remmenants of the druid army promised in the earth air fire water accessory. maybe Ill have time this summer vacation. also I would like to see all of the above ideas. I have mapped every village, merchant fort and ruin to a nice level of detail. maybe someone is interested? although they have been created by hand, so Ill need to scan them someplace. great work athas org BTW. |
#12jon_oracle_of_athasJul 22, 2003 13:55:43 | Eyalrein, please send them to athas[at]online.no Thanks. - Jon |
#13GrummoreJul 22, 2003 14:04:06 | ARGL ! Jon as been faster than me. Although, it's my thread ! :D If you wish to send them to me, I can either put them on my web page or at least read them! Thanks and email me! grummore[at]videotron.ca |
#14zombiegleemaxJul 23, 2003 9:54:12 | A guide to epic level campaigns, including advanced beings and epic treatments for the dark sun classes. |
#15zombiegleemaxJul 23, 2003 15:53:41 | hi guys! although it is a lame excuse, the problem I didn't offer it before was that I dont have a scanner. what we can do, is I will photocopy all the maps, and send them by mail to one of you, so you can scan them and give them to athas.org and everyone else that wants them. although I should warn you that most of the special characters I made for the forts and places are second edition, (thats what I play - although modified heavily) so someone can alter them to third edition. and some of the places have been changed according to my campaign... I have all the merchant forts, all the villages, kalidnay, bodach, waverly, celik and some other. I also took some maps from other web sites, and converted them for my usage like ledopolus, kled, and some other. anyhow, Ill photocopy them sometime this week. ----------------------- |
#16GrummoreJul 24, 2003 7:04:54 | Will send you my physical address by email when I recieve your's. |
#17jon_oracle_of_athasJul 24, 2003 10:00:06 | A relevant question is which is cheaper - sending it to Norway or Canada (or to someone else in another country)? |
#18zombiegleemaxJul 24, 2003 15:06:46 | anyway Ill try to find a scanner... |
#19zombiegleemaxJul 25, 2003 8:10:32 | I definitly would like to see the Thri-Kreen invasion. I am just scanning the lovely Incursion from Dragon Mag/Dungeon. Something like this for the mantis warriors would be great. Seond, I´ll love to see more adventures or adventure ideas. |
#20jon_oracle_of_athasAug 26, 2003 8:16:42 | Eyalrein, did you ever get hold of a scanner? |
#21zombiegleemaxAug 26, 2003 11:58:39 | hi Jon! Im so sorry, but I forgot all about it, you see I got married last thursday, and my mind was on the wedding this past couple of weeks!! Ill be back from my honeymoon next week, and Ill see what I can do! yours, eyal. |
#22jon_oracle_of_athasAug 26, 2003 17:10:32 | Step back from the computer. Put your hands somewhere I *can't* see them. Shut down the computer and enjoy your honeymoon. :D |
#23zombiegleemaxAug 27, 2003 8:31:50 | Originally posted by bromleylaerchenheim Which issue of Dragon/Dungeon is that in? I would love to see the thrikreen invasion as well, and Psionic artifacts of athas. All the other suggestions on here sound cool also |
#24zombiegleemaxAug 27, 2003 23:18:47 | Dragon Mag 309 featured the Incursion set up. I still haven't got the Dungeon mag, but I'm pretty sure it was issue 100. |
#25zombiegleemaxAug 28, 2003 0:57:17 | I would like to leave the unmapped city-states to the players and DM's imagination. Using video game graphics, I could make a 3D map of Balic, using Caeser 3 graphics, a 3D map of Raam, using Pharaoh graphics and using Age of Empire graphics, I can make a 3D map of Urik. There is just so much more I can do with game graphics than just drawing a bunch of squares and calling it a city. (I do remeber, somewhere, there was a 3D map of Balic that was cool and looked hand-drawn). The one of the things I like about Dark Sun is that I can use my imagination without someone doing the "Ahem, I have a supplement that says there should be a village here. Why is it not here in your world"? |
#26zombiegleemaxAug 28, 2003 3:55:56 | Originally posted by Grummore yes! 9- [Campaign] Dregoth ascending YES! An accessory on the silt skimmers and the silt sea [/b] YEEEEHHEEESSS!!!! Somehow had the same thought, but due to my lack of English never considered this seriously. And as someone other noted here, I`m looking forward to an accessory about the deadlands... cya, Geno |
#27zombiegleemaxSep 01, 2003 8:48:33 | Originally posted by Mach2.5 Yes, its Dungeon 100. But it is sold-out everywhere I ve asked. If somebody would like to sell me his copy I would appreciate this very much :D |
#28overelementalSep 02, 2003 15:10:13 | Well, the first thing I'd like to see is, of course, books about the citystates that hasn't already been covered in the original accessories. With maps, of course. Would also be nice to see what's hidden in the blue shrine (apart from Jon of course). Maybe an adventure set in that area of the world. Or even better, a big book with useful info on all the sites mentioned on maps and by the wanderer.. just with actual information, not just wild theories or guesses. And including a map by each citystate and a couple of pages with info on each on them. Like an encyclopedia or atlas of the region with facts and adventure hooks for the DM. |
#29zombiegleemaxSep 03, 2003 2:12:28 | I d like to see stuff about the Pristine Tower. Its mentioned so often but with so little detail that it could not really be used for adventuring. |
#30jon_oracle_of_athasSep 03, 2003 2:34:31 | Paper cuts can be deadly... especially in the vicinity of the Pristine Tower. |
