#1zombiegleemaxJul 09, 2003 23:15:02 | YaY! Check it out. We are right under Forgotten Realms now! Although I wish we were ontop of FR, it's a start huh??? :D YAY!!!!!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: |
#2zombiegleemaxJul 09, 2003 23:18:22 | Hmmm . . . I only ever go to the regular D&D section maybe once a week so I was rather glad to have it in the OtherWorlds section since that's where I'm at more. Glad to see they haven't entirely moved it out of there either. In the end, it means double exposure ;) |
#3zombiegleemaxJul 09, 2003 23:27:33 | It's not enough, dammit! I say we martial our forces, kickstart our artifacts (I have four...), summon all manner of fiends, call in favours from higher plane beings and go destroy WotC! I have a nation of undead and a few hundred Nerullian clerics... what can you bring to the party? |
#4zombiegleemaxJul 09, 2003 23:54:15 | Ack! No! Don't do it! At least, not until they finish the revised psionic handbook. The last one wasn't too much to my liking and I'm not too happy with a few other ones. After that, then nuke em all ;) |
#5zombiegleemaxJul 10, 2003 0:45:06 | :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D One small step for man.... |
#6doppleganger_dupJul 10, 2003 3:39:42 | Technically, it still "is" in the Other Worlds section. But now there's a bright and shiny link in the "Dungeons & Dragons" subfolder. :D So now there might be a wee bit more people who take notice that Greyhawk is really here and alive!! ;) |
#7chatdemonJul 10, 2003 4:08:38 | Originally posted by Delglath 43 drunken xvarts and a gang of deranged jasidan clerics, at your service :D |
#8zombiegleemaxJul 10, 2003 4:24:23 | yes, its a good new. But now greyhawk dm and players should react and show GH diserve to be at this place. As one wrote before, it's a little step, but it may be a beginning. AND it s thanks all the one whos write here and fight for GH, all the ones wh don't accept to be buried alive and forced to play in FR. Let's see now. I don't change my position toward Wotc product, i am waiting to see an evolution in their line of production. And with qualities! Theres plenty of talentued and motivated witer in living greyhawk or in Tsr. A little spark of hope bright in my eyes. But i wont be anymore deceived. |
#9mr._vandermeerJul 10, 2003 7:11:51 | Not bad. I had not expected it. So now, is everyone actually going to post Greyhawk matters on this forum? Instead of all these request for more exposure? Well of course everybody should keep asking for more published material.:D (I like the LG Gazeteer, but I want more, more, more!) |
#10zombiegleemaxJul 10, 2003 9:39:48 | They said it couldn't be done, but we're one step closer... What a nice thing to log on to. Thank you Mel. Thank you Paradox. |
#11ArgonJul 10, 2003 9:48:23 | I think it is a grand thing. Greyhawk gets recognized on the boards. Let's keep it there I think it's worth it. |
#12zombiegleemaxJul 10, 2003 10:48:03 | You know, when this board first appeared, I was kinda dubious. You get a little... hmm... defensive? Jaded? I'm not sure, but when you become a 'hardcore' GH fan like I would term myself (you don't know the pains I've gone to to find GH info... suffice it to say, you don't want to get in my way if I'm on the hunt :D ), you tend to end up seeing more negative than positive when it comes to Greyhawk and WotC/TSR. I mean, all you have to do is see how WotC are currently treating the setting and you've got a glimpse at the frustrations of being a GH fan. I'm actually kind of glad I only got into the setting a couple of years ago as it would've been agony to go through the last twenty years of ill-treatment GH has received from it's supposed benefactor. Regardless, one of the things that has always surprised me is the ability of GH fans to come together and enliven the setting. That's pretty much why I like Canonfire. I don't get along with a LOT of the regulars at CF and GT but at the same time, start us on a GH discussion and ill-feelings seem to evaporate... at least for awhile, right Sam? Anyway, point is, is that it has been pleasing to see this forum grow and expand due to the popularity of it and the efforts of the posters here. I applaud the people who originally got a forum created here for GH and those that have stood by it and gone that step further to keep it alive, make it prosper and make it's star rise ever further. Sigh, my only regret is that we (the CF staff) didn't get our forum up sooner, else we could've had all this wonderful support there instead. Oh well, hopefully the two will complement each other and find some happy balance. |
#13HalberkillJul 10, 2003 11:27:31 | I have been a Greyhawk fan for the past 20 or so years...and after a while you learn to take what you can get when you can get it, but never give up asking for more. I'm happy right now because I just completed my circle of 8 card collection from the 1993 Collectors Cards set. Very different images of some of the mages. Greyhawk is, Greyhawk was, Greyhawk shall always be. Whee...WE got it moved! Halber |
#14zombiegleemaxJul 10, 2003 11:45:21 | A cause for celebration indeed. Nice to see that our efforts have not gone unnoticed. Next up, Greyhawk 3.5!!! |
#15gadodelJul 10, 2003 15:42:28 | Originally posted by bogomil Actually, I use the Modern/Urban Arcana rules for Greyhawk; now. The minimalist approach when it comes to magic, in the Modern books; fits nicely with the World of Greyhawk. The Circle of Eight use Incantations now...:D |
#16xiphias_dupJul 10, 2003 20:21:05 | Great to see Greyhawk back where it belongs. I imagine this took some effort to pull off, so hats off to those who made it happen. |
#17zombiegleemaxJul 10, 2003 22:44:33 | A good step to take next might be to change the banner from Other Worlds to Greyhawk when accessing the Greyhawk board. Especially since the symbols of several Greyhawk deities are already on the banner. This might already be in the works, but hey, it never hurts to ask. |
#18zombiegleemaxJul 11, 2003 1:15:17 | Yeah, change the banner. And the location of the forum is still the same in the popup at the bottom of the forums. |
#19zombiegleemaxJul 11, 2003 10:35:28 | Not bad. Not bad at all... |
#20zombiegleemaxJul 11, 2003 16:00:02 | Originally posted by Delglath Have you ever tried purchasing out of date GH books and LGJs on Ebay or Yahoo? The out of date stuff doesn't have 3e rules, but it is far richer in content than many of the 3e sources are these days. The LGJs are excellent imho. I just managed to get ahold of the "Holy Grail" of LGJ, issue #2, which includes a detailed map of the City of Greyhawk, as well as a bunch of great 3e rules for the Rhenee, an Animus template, and more. The thing I like most about GH is its rich history anyway so I really like just having the old books for background. I can come up with the 3e specific stuff myself. |
#21zombiegleemaxJul 11, 2003 20:53:33 | Originally posted by airwalkrr I now have a copy of almost every GH book ever published SV Games don't make very good PDF's, but for those of us who have trouble finding things or aren't willing to pay $100 US for From the Ashes (it's a rare boxed set so it's very expensive in collectors circles), it's a good compromise. |
