Does anyone know what all the Silvanesti Houses are and where they fit in the caste hierarchy? what are the duties of the different houses, social restrictions, etc...
I know there's House Royal, House Advocate, House Mystic, House Woodshaper, House Servitor, House Protector, House Mariner, House Cleric (?).
A few ideas i had included Houses Artisan, Merchant, and House Aesthete, but I would prefer to know what the actual ones are.

This is something I would like to see expanded on. If it is not in the DLCS....maybe in a future racial book.

The SAGA product, _The Sylvan Veil_, is the most comprehensive guide to the sylvanesti out there. Get it. Its really good.

I really do not want to buy SAGA products. I never was a fan of the SAGA rules system. Since DL is back in 3.5 I would prefer to wait for new material.

dude, why you gotta be a hater?

In anycase, Sylvan Veil is a hybrid SAGA/AD&D book. The rules in it fill about a paragraph. the other 96 pages are flavor and background info. Its everything you ever wanted to know about the complete history of elves on ansalon.

But if a little yellow box that says SAGA is enough to drive you away from a valuable resource, suit yourself.

Beyond the rules system, there's tons of great info in the SAGA materials. It may be a while before Sov. Press can cover this, too.

Ok....let's say that I might be persuaded to look into this...

Does anyone know if the (egads I can't believe I am saying this) SAGA rules stuff is being sold as e-books? (Boy...that left a funny taste in my mouth....)
;)

maybe it will make it easier for you not to think of it as a rule book, because it doesnt have any rules.

Its a source book. A race book. The complete guide to elves.
And no, its not an ebook.

In DLCS they have Silvanesti House: Advocate, Cleric, Gardener, Mason, Metalline, Mystic, Protector, Royal, Servitor, Woodshaper. But they don't go into any details about them.

*Edit Starts*

Ok...I found:

Wings of Fury,
Heroes of Defiance,
Rise of the Titans,
and the Last Tower

online for a decent price (not ebooks, but physical ones).

I am still looking for other SAGA products that may have info/stuff that might be useful.

Does anyone have a complete list of the SAGA products to help in my search?

This is the list that I have compiled so far.

Sylvan Veil
Seed of Chaos
Chaos Spawn
Rise of the Titans
The Last Tower
Heroes of Steel
Heroes of Hope
Heroes of Sorcery
Heroes of Defiance
Wings of Fury
Citadel of Light

*Edit Ends*

**Disclaimer---I am only purchasing these items for the useful info, I am still anti-SAGA.**

You know what? Those products are all better for the detail they provide of ansalon than any amount of rules. I don't particularly care for SAGA either, but i'll be damned if those products werent the best detail dragonlance has ever gotten.

Seeds of Chaos and Chaos Spawn are adventures, so they may not be useful.

Rise of the Titans and The Sylvan Veil are both wonderful race books, and totally worth having.

The Heroes of ____ Boxes are great cause they have maps and tend to detail parts of ansalon pretty thoroughly. Heroes of Defiance is one of the best in this regard.

Don't forget the city guide to Palanthas, by Stan!. its really well done.

I have to say, that book, is one of my favourite all time game books. The detail in it, really is amazing. This book really made Palanthas come alive.

Lets stay away from the SAGA vs D&D debate, it never ends well.

You're all forgetting the product which gave us the greatest amount of information on a particular place. "Dwarven Nations of Krynn" Which detailed Kayolin, Thorbardin, Thoradin, Zhakar Keep and Kal-Thax.

It is probably the one product, out of all the ones you listed, which will not easily replaced with the new DLCS and Age of Mortals sourcebooks.

Of course...don't forget the Main Boxed set.

So...the complete list would be:

Dragonlance: 5th Age Boxed Set
Heroes of Steel
Heroes of Defiance
Heroes of Sorcery
Heroes of Hope
Wings of Fury
The Last Tower: The Legacy of Raistlin
The Citadel of Light
The Bestiary
Palanthas
The Sylvan Veil
Rise of the Titans
SAGA Companion
(I don't know how much help this will be)

Seeds of Chaos and Chaos Spawn
These two are AD&D 2nd Edition stuff only. They are adventures during the Chaos War. Personally...I very much enjoyed Chaos Spawn.

Agreed. That is by far my favorite DL painting.

At work...it is the background picture for everyone of my computers. (except for the UNIX ones...but that's just becasue I can't get it on them)

Lockwood can paint Dragons like nobody's business. The Gold Dragon on the cover of Dragonlance Classics 15th Anniversary is quite beautiful.

Damn...that would be expensive. I saw large print of that (at least I thought it was a print...maybe it was the original) going for several hundred on eBay.

And anyway...I thought it was a painting from the cover of one of the Anthologies that you had hanging over your bed. Or was that someone else who had that?

Anyway...I've seriously thought about buying a print of "Chaos Spawn" as soon as it is available. Either that...or raiding Pat and Jeannie Wilshire's home.

I think that's actually a bronze dragon, Brim. Lockwood's gold dragons look a lot more Asian-influenced.

over my bed hangs the raist/crysania print, an uncut magi nation cardsheet, and three lockwood prints. my bed is in a corner, so there is a lot of room 'over' it =)

I thought about that...but this was before his concept work for 3rd Edition was started/completed.

I was just reading his website...he doesn't specifically say that it is a Gold...but it does call it what would eventually become the Red Dragon (check out the painting called "Not Quite Scaramouche"...while not even a Dragonlance picture...it is obviously the same dragon design as on the cover of DL15th).

Anyway...I agree that it could be a Bronze...but given that it is pre-3rd Edition...and that the color looks more gold than bronze to me...I think it is a Gold.

Ah...yeah....that's what you mentioned the other day on the DL-L right?

I would really like to get a house with one room that I could just dedicate to all my hobbies (models, Dragonlance, Star Wars)...and I could just pepper the walls with paintings and posters and stuff. Unfortunately...can't be done with a 1 bedroom apt.
