#1zombiegleemaxJul 22, 2003 1:47:52 | Now that the DLCS is firmly established, what can ayone tell me about the Dragonorbs in 3e?. Are they covered in the DLCS, or do we have to wait for some other later accessory?. Of course I am assuming here that they are a little different than the 'Orb of Dragonkind' detailed in the DMG. |
#2talinthasJul 22, 2003 13:02:18 | Since most (if not all) of them were lost or destroyed, they werent covered in this book. |
#3brimstoneJul 22, 2003 13:23:37 | I'm betting they'll be in the 4th Age book next year (is it next year?). |
#4ferratusJul 22, 2003 13:43:01 | There is at least one left, which was kept safe in "The Anvil of Time". The adventure, and the 3e stats for that artifact are found in Dungeon Magazine, or the "The Best of Tales II". |
#5zombiegleemaxJul 22, 2003 17:22:02 | Does anyone know if there is a way that i can get a copy of the Anvil of Time or Best of Tales II? |
#6carteegJul 22, 2003 17:30:54 | Let's see, Icewall's -> Smashed on Whitestone. High Clerist's Tower -> Assumed Destroyed in Blue Lady's Failed Seige Lorac's -> Vanished when Raistlin teleported to Palanthus from the Blood Sea. (Not sure of the specifics on that one.. or at least I can't remember.) Zebulah's -> Heroes' of the Lance missed it and as far as I know it's still in Istar. Anvil of Time -> Never played it. Have no clue even where it is in the world. If there was something else updating the conditions of the surviving ones, clue me in. |
#7talinthasJul 22, 2003 17:52:58 | the anvil of time is located in the City of Lost Names way to the north in Solamnia. (originally it was on an island, but i convinced tracy to use the CoLN during the playtest because it hadnt been used before and was conveniently on the map.) |
#8brimstoneJul 22, 2003 18:08:08 | Originally posted by carteeg No...it was still around. But I believe it was finally drained/cracked/broken/something in War of the Twins. I think.... |
#9shugiJul 22, 2003 18:24:15 | Raist used the orb to contact Dalamar (in War of the Twins I think), perhaps it cracked/broke then. |
#10zombiegleemaxJul 23, 2003 1:52:26 | That's right Eidolon. I remember that it did crack and break after it was used to contact Dalamar, although I don't recall it being mentioned again, after that point. |
#11zombiegleemaxJul 23, 2003 1:58:04 | Curious... After reading through the particular section of the Anvil of Time adventure it makes a particular of note of saying 'three of these major artifacts are known to exist on Krynn'. Thoughts?. |
#12talinthasJul 23, 2003 2:33:14 | Tracy had a lot of consistency issues in Anvil of Time. for instance, Magius is an older white robe, and huma is a young upstart, pre KoS. take that mod with a grain of salt. but its still the best DL module to date =) |
#13zombiegleemaxJul 23, 2003 3:03:19 | I just finished the chapter in War of the Twins where the dragon orb is cracked. (Rereading it for like the 7th time.) ' Made by the mages of all three Robes long ago, filled with the essence of good, evil, and neutral dragons, powerful enough to span the banks of time, the crystal orb still stood upon the table, resting on the silver stand Raistlin had made for it. Once it had been an objectof magical, enchanting light. Now it was a thing of darkness, lifeless, a crack running down its center. Now-- "It's broken," Caramon said in a quiet voice.' Pages 247-248 of War of the Twins. |
#14zombiegleemaxJul 23, 2003 4:26:00 | Thanks for that TheSlyOne. Anyway, as for the other issues you raised talinthas, I had notice them, I just thought perhaps with the mention of three Dragonorbs, there was something I had missed. |
#15zombiegleemaxJul 23, 2003 4:28:59 | Does this then mean that the stats for the Dragonorbs could also become inconsistent later after official material has been published?. Although I now realise that is probably a difficult question to answer . So..., are there 2e stats for the Dragonorbs in TotL?. I only ask because I don't have access to my books at the moment. |
#16talinthasJul 23, 2003 13:27:54 | dude, if you want 2e stats, just get the tales of the lance box set. it has every thing you've asked so far. and besides, dragon orbs are just slightly modified orbs of dragonkind. There is little chance for future inconsistancy, since SP is pretty damned good at accuracy and research. The DLCS has yet to break canon anywhere. |
#17brimstoneJul 23, 2003 13:33:15 | Originally posted by talinthas Heh heh...don't you mean Orbs of Dragonkind are just slightly modified Dragonorbs? ;) |
#18talinthasJul 23, 2003 13:37:43 | same thing =) |
#19carteegJul 23, 2003 19:13:51 | Hmmm.... maybe a bit of spackle and that DragonOrb could be as good as new. |
#20daedavias_dupJul 23, 2003 22:48:07 | Originally posted by Brimstone Yeah, but the Dragon Orbs don't make dragons hate you for eternity. |
#21zombiegleemaxAug 12, 2003 14:16:38 | Assee in huma and kaz the minotaur the dragonorb can repair them self with a lot of time so i think the 5 of them are some where. Shadu |
#22zombiegleemaxSep 27, 2003 19:34:25 | Talinthas, I'm curious about something. You said the Anvil was in the City of Lost Names. From all that I've read it was "out of space and time" so to speak. Does the building actually have a physical location on Krynn that a person could walk to (or get there without magic, teleportation, etc)? And is there any printed information as to where the Anvil is located? Thanks in advance. |
#23zombiegleemaxSep 28, 2003 1:36:09 | I hope they make them a little more powerful this time around, they didn't really seem that great in 2nd edition.... |
