Due to the ancient and obscure nature of these disasters, DMs have considerable freedom when applying actual facts to the events that uprooted the Suel and the Baklunish peoples.

Have you detailed the historical facts surrounding the cataclysms in your campaigns? Did you allow your players to uncover the mysteries that laid low these once great societies?

Considering a handful of the characters spent 4 weeks in the Suel Imperium just prior to its destruction and also befriended Slerotin, they got the inside scoop on a lot of things. They even recovered the Bringer of Doom, the device that caused the Invoked Devastation; as powerful as it is, it's made of raw oerthblood and requires far more spell energy to activate than they can hope to muster, so it's essentially useless.

Years ago, I too did a time-travelling adventure back to the Twin Cats, using my own ideas detailing the historical events leading up to (and causing) the catastrophe. I describe my ideas in fair detail on a series of pages on my website. Start here and follow the links to the other pages as well.

Your ideas are what inspired me in the first place! I didn't come up with anything I cared for concerning the nature of the Invoked Devastation, but I liked and used your idea for the Bringer of Doom; it was a minor side adventure, however, as most of the action took place in the Imperium. They watched as the Baklunish Empire was overrun with hordlings, night hags and achaierai, and even saw the Khin-Oin in the distance before turning around and escaping. The only Baklunish survivors were a handful of wizards and priests at Tovag Baragu protected by a prismatic sphere, who then called down the Rain of Colorless Fire... to be honest, in 24+ years of play, that was one of the best adventures I ever ran... thanks for the inspiration!

Thanks Extempus!!!
The original time-travelling adventure I describe on my webpage also was one of our most memorable nights of adventure in 26 years of playing. We still talk about it all the time. BTW, in my campaign, one of the pieces of the Ashen Staff is the reason for the dead zone in the Defiled Glades, and I've got a new party on the path to uncovering it... while in a race with Iuz to find it.
Bwaahahaha!!!
