#4zombiegleemaxAug 04, 2003 19:55:18 | Wow! I have been plugged! My goal is to create regions that are in every way as unqiue and as creative as the Tyr Region. My concept is two opposing states (nations) where one is controlled by an Avangion and the other by a Dragon. I am working on the Avangion's region and I have a map (about the size of the Tyr Region map) and a brief outline up. I have about 10,000 words on just the culture of the Avangion and I have not yet started to write about the region's geography. I will post it on my website as soon as I complete the monumental task of writting it all down before I get another really cool idea. |

#6zombiegleemaxAug 05, 2003 11:38:03 | hello! I liked the map and ideas very much. what about twisting it a bit so that the dragon (evil as he is) protects the people, because the avangion is (mad/insane/evil) or something? just an idea, dont intend to ruin your vision |
#7zombiegleemaxAug 05, 2003 12:42:07 | Thanks! I have to keep with the yin-yang good/evil dichotomy that an Avangion and a Dragon represent. However, good is a relative term. The Avangion's government is not a democracy and the Avangion has the last and final word in every act of goverment it desires. Given the threat of the Dragon and the dedication to regrowth, and though the Avangion and the government is good, it is militaristic and fascist. There is still slavery and no rights for women (the only thing they see women for is to have children for the state). The Dragon does protect his people, but only because protecting his people is good for him. His people believe that the Avangion is a corrupt angel of death coming to enslave them and force them to work the Avangion's vast fields for his decadent society. |
#8zombiegleemaxAug 05, 2003 13:10:31 | great! I am always happy to enlarge my dark sun world with quality stuff. if youll need help with ideas or anything just say so! |
#9zombiegleemaxAug 06, 2003 13:57:58 | Since I usually never finish a world, that is I am always thinking of something cool to put in them (hmmm, an oasis would look good here etc.), I am going to spend a lot of time in production, then post the whole thing up and let others contribute ideas as was the case with Dark Sun. A world was set up then writers and others came up with new villages and places like blacksands etc. and perhaps make a reprint of the map sometime in the future with all these new places and such. One thing I will probably never do is have the Avangion or the Dragon conquer the other. The death of a powerful and immortal being is a MAJOR, region-shaking event. The loser's nation will probably be destroyed and their people enslaved or killed or scattered to the four winds. I am also considering making the region stat-less, meaning that there will be no RPG stats except for monsters and new races. For instance, in the Republic, templars run the government and a templar has to be off a certain level to govern a village, town or city. Assuming that a templar has to be almost 20th to govern the Republic, I will let DMs decided what level a templar can run a city, town or village (I assume at least name-level to govern a town and below name level to get some bad post)). Also, I will give the name and some background to a, say captain of an outpost, but I will not provide RPG stats so other DMs can chose just how powerful that NPC needs to be for their players. |
