#1zombiegleemaxAug 08, 2003 6:36:39 | A little curiosity: since the Bardic Secrets skill no longer exists in official version, how can a character acquire knowledges such as counterfeiting, craft specific tinkercraft devices or materials, ecc.? Is there a work-around (e.g. a new use for old skills) or are this options lost? And a little wish (i don't understand why it has been discarded): it's possible to add to Rangers the Favored Animal option, besides Favored Terrain (and by the way, why the Listen bonus in favored terrains has been removed?)? Like +2 to Listen, Spot, Survival, Handle Animal, Ride and +2 to Wild Empathy checks. Tnx P.S. I know, i know, i'm boring [EDIT] Added the little wish[/EDIT] |

However rather than the Bardic Secrets skill, I think there might be feats (?), or you just use other skills for it. Example: Counterfeiting = Forgery, craft tinkercraft devices could be Craft (tinkercraft devices) - it's not really new uses for old skills, it's using the old skills in the same way they have always been used. No need for the duplication/redundancy. The favored terrain was added due to the existance of something similar found in the horizon walker PrC (my guess), whille the other options like Favored Animal wasn't included as there's no similarity found in 3.5. As so many skills now provide different & unique synergy bonuses, it probably also falls into the realm of redundancy, or was dropped for simplicity's sake/ease of playtesting. |
